Why is being an Introvert so Hard?

I'm an Introvert who also suffers from anxiety and depression. So I have the triple threat. At first I come off as very cold and anti-social. However people who know me intimately know how warm and kind I am.

I don't talk a lot and hardly ever start up a conversation. However if some one starts one up I will most definitely engage in convo. The only times I talk or am myself is when I am around family, close friends or whenever I play Football a.k.a Soccer. Does are the times I am really comfortable. But when I am out my comfort zone I am quiet as a mouse.

At my work place, my co-workers are really verbal and I am pretty quiet. When they have conversations, I don't talk much unless asked a question or if I have input. We are a small group of 6 designers. Sometimes I feel they think I am anti-social but I am just naturally quiet.
I think you'll find that they probably have already guessed that Ur quiet.

Amd I've found that nearly every introvert actually does have an extrovert on the inside - it's just that you guys don't throw them
Out there - you reserve thay side.of yourselves for the people you trust.
Amd MAN!!! 😁... Good lawd introverts supprise you!!!!

They have the driest wit!!! 😂... One quiet well timed phrase can floor the whole team into pearls of guffaws amd stop work for the next half an.hour!!
👍😜

@BoobooSnafu That's true, around people I am comfortable with. My true side comes out.Thank you.
@kydflash well, you're probably quite smart in being that selective.
Wearing ypur heart on ypur sleeve does mean, yes, less to.hold inside... But it leaves you open to criticism and hurt.
Amd even psychologists say - it's good to keep some things about yourself private.
Bit Like that "speech is silver, but silence is golden" thing.

I think it's just modern commercialism that pushes people to think that it's bad to be introverted.

Bullshit!... I've seen my daughter and her friends grow up - anf you know who comes out the strongest?
Know who weathers the storm of changing from teen to adult?
Know who copes best when suddenly you lose your friend group amd enter the work force?

It's not the cool people
It's not the alpha attention holders at the centre of the group.

It's the quiet ones on the fringes.

They're a lot tougher than they appear. It's how they've learnt to deal with so much by themselves.

They have the ability to not only stand alone, but move foreward - all under their own steam.

Yes - you have fear...

But - you also have a strength that many don't.

@BoobooSnafu Well said, really appreciate it. It helps a lot and put things in a different perspective.
Me - I'm an ambivert.
Some days I struggle to even get in the car - I don't want to face the world, or even.one person in it - it's scary, suffocating amd frankly - terrifying!!!

Then there are other days - I can take on that world amd more! I stand up for thode being hassled, I step in and calm arguments, and if i can't - I'll take the heat instead of that person.
It almost feel like the difference of being a pebble at the bottom of the ocean ... To being placed in the sun to glisten.
But through it all. Introverted or extroverted... There is still so much I keep to myself.
Not all extroverts spill their entirity onto the world. Sometimes their extroversion Is actually a cover for All thr insecurities they hide.
They can live with just as much anxiety from things they keep to themselves.

Sounds more like you are shy rather than an introvert. They are not the same thing.

@curiosi Thank you, I am an introvert lol. I often prefer my own company.

I hear you.

I think its only as hard as you make it on yourself - don't feel there is something wrong with you because the majority of people are extroverts. Be comfortable with what you are.

Still waters run deep !

@ButterRobot Thank you, very true. Still waters do run deep.
You internalize your thoughts in stead of just saying what you feel.
