If the bible was written so many years ago why do so many people still refer to it?

Has some of us moved on whilst others haven’t? Is it still relevant in this day and age?
Help me understand...

I follow the Torah, I’m Jewish. And like any other religion, in your case, Christianity, they believe that what it says in the Bible is truth.
Or in other religions and other religious text the people who follow that religion, often than not believe that what it says is the word of god, and they shall follow it and live by it, because it is what god would want them to do.

Even if in some cases what text might say is not widely believed in our society as time advances..

I think, we are too grow with society, and be accepting of somethings that our religion might say we shall not accept, while still maintaining our faith.
It is impossible to live exactly the way our religion suggests we live like.

Just be a decent human being, I think we’ll be fine. 😂

God's word never gets old and never changes.
@SW-User "The same yesterday, today, and forever."
[c=#003BB2]To whom it may concern- [/c] The eternal truth of grace is something few will understand here. Everyone on earth should be jumping up and down and clapping their hands and singing............................uh............................nobody's doing it huh? That is so much sadder than anyone knows.

Moved on?? Tis a sign of intelligence to admit you don't now something and therefore study. Only the ignorant feel they have all the answers.

If I had the answers then I’d not be asking, lol@curiosi
Lies are temporal. Truth is eternal. If someone wrote, "You shouldn't take deep breaths while under water." 5,000 years ago, the truth of that statement is not going to expire. The bible contains more timeless truth than any other collection of ancient writings on earth, but even the bible itself acknowledges that it is not 100% truth in Jeremiah 8:8.

The original truth stays forever.
God never changes.

It was the only explanation of the world and how it worked and where we came from at the time. Became very popular. If enough people believe something long enough, it becomes ingrained in the social fabric and becomes "truth". Other "truths" have emerged and taken its place for some. Just the way it is.

You refer to it everyday regardless if you believe in it or not.. while I’m not positively sure it’s the oldest known text that sets guidelines for social morality and laws, our modern societal morality and governance derived from it or some other religious text.. from murder to incest.

People love these old books. They think it gives some sort of guide or rule set.

Jesus couldn’t have said things any simpler but yet the New Testament is filed with the words of foolish men.

Religion used to help the meek. Now it is just a recruitment tool for fascists.

How dare you mocked the holy Bible? It's our way of life. Now you're damned to eternal hell forever. Lol.

Jk. You're right Btw.

Arithmetica is also old, but we still use it

@puck61 the Bible doesn't answer my questions. The only religious book that does is the Zoroastrian Gathas.
@basilfawlty89 What does the Gathas have to say about touching a birds nest?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@puck61 it says to respect all life, including those of animals. Good thoughts, good words, good deeds.
That's a very good question; one that can't easily be explained from a "rational" POV
