Why can't I do anything right?

Okay, so this might be a bit of just stream-of-consciousness, for which I apologize.

Okay: I tend to give up on things insanely easily. I have always had the mindset that if something doesn't come easily to me, there is no use wasting my time with it. If I'm never going to get to the level I want to be at, or even come close to my competitors, what's the point? I'm a competitive person, I guess you could say, but I'm terrible at everything. I'm not athletic, at all. I'm not very intelligent, and I have no idea what I want to do in life. I'm already a year behind my peers because I was held back in pre-school due to developmental delays, and I have no clue what I want to major in. The only thing I have ever enjoyed is theatre, which I have been told all my life is not a reasonable career path. I did theatre in high-school, but decided not to stick with it. I took concurrent college classes instead, (Getting college credits while still in high school) to put me ahead of the game. That backfired, because now that I haven't chosen a major, I will need to be in school even longer than if I hadn't taken those classes while still being in high school. I just hate that all of my friends have a plan. Meanwhile, I'm too stressed out all the time over only 15 credit hours that I can't have a job, and I'm not even allowed to drive on the highway. I just feel like everyone else is so far ahead of me in life already, and I can't do anything. For example, in this computer class I have to take, I'm three chapters behind. Sorry if this was a bit long and jumbled, but I'm feeling really low at the moment and I don't know what to do.

First thing you can do is stop comparing yourself to anybody else.
They live their lives ! And just because you share a classroom, don't think they appear to be successful, that may not actually be true !

EVERYBODY advises you take the educational route. It's an adult's 'go-to' default position !
But that doesn't mean it's for everybody !

I wouldn't worry about not having a 'direction' in life.
Hell ! I'm about to hit 53 and i'm not sure i've EVER had one !

If the drama thing interests you enough to want to throw your heart and soul into it. DO IT !
Join a local club/society and give it a go !
While that may take care of the social side of life, try and get a job that allows you the time and space to be able to study drama properly !
A year of doing all that and it might put you off completely !
Or of course, it might cement the fact that THIS is what you need to strive for !
Then you can plan accordingly !

You're way too young to have worries about all this life stuff !
You're young ! Live your dreams !!
@Picklebobble2 That's true, but what if it doesn't work? There's always the possibility of crashing and burning, and I don't want to be a failure..

@marilynmichelle Well Hell woman ! Neither do I !!
Any idea just how many things I'VE failed at since i was 18-21 ???

But if i hadn't given them a go, i wouldn't be happy because i'd always have this.....
I wish i'd .......
thing going on in my head !
Choose a course of study that is interesting to you but also will allow you to make money. If you enjoy theatre you can still do that as an elective or a minor or as an extracurricular. Don't plan your future too far in advance because stuff changes and you'll have to adjust. You'll be fine and do great because that's what others before you have done.
If theatre or dance or art is the only thing you can do because it's all you think about, then you should major in it. If you are not so committed, choose something else because the career path is so very difficult in the arts.
@BiasForAction That's why I'm hesisant. It's such a tough industry, and I have no idea if I'm good enough to have a career in it.

@marilynmichelle important to do what u enjoy..money secondary!
You do sound overwhelmed.

All your friends with plans? They will regret the plan at some point and change their plans. Some will do this many times. Some claim to have a plan but its a line - they actually have no idea what they are doing. These so called plans are difficult for everyone.

Now, quit looking to them to see where you should be right now. They are not you.

I say, take a break - do something you enjoy - and then decide where you want to start to get you back on track with the classes you are currently taking. And stop beating yourself up.
You'll find your niche eventually. Just be yourself.
