If your city announced water shortage alerts... would you adhere to what they say?

I do because the fines are high. Although a few years ago, we had very strict water restrictions for a couple of years but why I didn't agree with them was that the regular population uses only a very small percentage of the water from the river, and something like 85% was used by 5 of the local industries which had no restrictions. So our restrictions were only an enforced token gesture.. to who I have no idea.

@SW-User I can see that. I don’t want to pay fines. I’m not stingy but I’m all about saving money. You make a good point about industry. Hmm

Thanks. I'd be the first to recycle my urine if it came to that, but really, our situation was all about the local Government being seen to do something and forcing the community to suffer some pain for it. The actual fact was that one company - a paper mill that made newsprint for newspapers and a dog food factory usued millions of gallons which was most of the water. Yet the Government had neighbours reporting little old ladies for watering their roses in the middle of the night. Makes me wonder how many other places around the world are in a similar situation 🤔

Yes, of course. They would enforce them anyway

Yep. And I’ve heard of nieghbors who will report people for watering their lawns too much. It’s serious.

Absolutely. I always do.

@CharlesTheThird The majority do not do this though it appears

I know. I don’t judge people for it but there is a reason they do this. And it’s important where I live.

@CharlesTheThird A land of plenty with 28% water reserves and people water their gardens...

Yes. I still remember how upset I was when my former sister-in-law told me they were having water shortages in her town in California, and she just went off....said there was no way she was NOT going to water her lawn or conserve water or comply in any way. (She is something of a hothead).
