@Jackaloftheazuresand It reminds me of Ratchet & Clank, during "Mission: Idiotic" when Captain Qwark puts a banana in an air gun to make Skrunch the monkey chase after it and he calls it the "Banana Guided Autonomous Monkey Device" of BGAMD for short. But he tries to pronounce it as a word, calling it the "buh-gammed".

@Keraunos This is because "gif" is an acronym for "graphics interchange format" and the word graphics is pronounced with a hard G, so it was from the start "gif." Everyone ridiculed people who said "jif" so the person who first invented the format said that jif is the right way just to be funny.

@SW-User It's a file type. And a particularly annoying one at that because it can't be opened like a .png or a .jpg or whatever. So you have to convert it to a readable file type before it can be viewed. It's used to compress images that otherwise would be too large.

@basilfawlty89 I'm a big fan of Halo, and in the games, a prominent plot point is ONI, the Office of Naval Intelligence. I hate that characters in the games refer to it as "Oh-Nee" instead of just saying the letters. Although I think it's cos ONI in the lore is pretty spooky and does terrible things, and an Oni is a Japanese mythical demon creature, so maybe they wanted ONI to sound like Oni.
