The initial response was slow and panicky.
The seemingly constant appearances on tv of BoJo talking often, yet saying little have just added to confusion. And this weekend sees a lot of folk worried they're about to be 'invaded' by 'outsiders carrying a potential threat' as people make use of a long weekend; some better weather and 'permission' to 'exercise' away from home.
If ever there were a textbook example of how not to execute policy in a medical emergency, the UK is probably it's finest example.

@Picklebobble2 agreed it will be interesting to see in the united kingdom after the bank holiday weekend and the initial corona virus incubation time how then the figures look and how many new cases we will see time will tell if this is yet another boris botch up

@smiler2012 Coincidentally, interesting is the fact that IF anyone contracts the virus this weekend it will probably be making itself 'known' at about the same time as they want the children to return to school.
Point proved i think.

Companies going bust,millions losing their jobs,people so scared they never want to go out out again,millions developing mental health issues and the British government now admitting lockdown was unnecessary.
Of course it was right.
The headline’Majority of the Worlds Population Remains Healthy’ doesn’t sell.
Countries which had no lockdown or didn’t go for complete lockdown got it right.
And I want my life back.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales lockdown was indeed unnecessary.

time will tell... total quarantine causing immune system weakening, so we'll see what happens this fall/winter.. covid will always be around though, just like the flu.. it will continue to mutate, just like the flu does, and covid vaccines will be just as effective as the flu vaccine is now....

@eMortal well, that's probably true.. thus the reason the president said he's not shutting down the country for the second wave... the first wave, no one knew how to deal with it, and of course, the media loves panic and drama, so they forced it down our throats day and night... funny though, the experts that are going against the main stream are being silenced and blocked... giving rise to more conspiracies than necessary

emortal sorry i disagree at the outbreak and the rapid spread and deaths it was causing i thing there was no real choice until it could be established how potent this virus was and governments took the correct steps to protect from any more mass infection and death radical but not much other option

Ventilators for everyone is the answer.
booboo · M
@Nimbus i've been researching those that are pursuing a vaccine, and like i said earlier, covid will mutate exactly like the flu, since they're in the same disease family, so even if a vaccine is discovered, scientist will be one step behind the latest mutation, just like the flu... they will constantly be playing catch up..

agree with you. Let the young and healthy get on with their lives

Very, very few of us are actually in "total quarantine".
SW-User
Yes ..it is making me crazy but it is helping others
SW-User
Yep. It was all we could do to protect the people

@DaddyMentor I meant NOT*
pearllederman · 61-69, F
i think so too, i hate it and i never get sick so i wouldnt have caught anything anyways, and its cruel not to let people live their lives,
curiosi · 61-69, F
Agree! We should have asked those at risk to stay home while the rest of us went on with our lives.
I for one enjoyed not working.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
We are not out of this yet.
