Who said that? :O At most I've read it's easier getting it through droplets rather than from surfaces, but as far as I know there have been proved cases of transmission happened that way.
@revenant Thanks for that, yeah paywalls are the worst.
Well the article says it doesn't spread easily, but it still spreads.
Still good news anyway, it was already known to us because otherwise we wouldn't have seen such a drastic fall of cases here in Veneto, where we've been implementing a public masking policy since much earlier (when the WHO still said it was useless, lol).
CDC says," We are still learning about how the virus spreads and the severity of illness it causes."
But Fauci(yes hes such a star he only needs one name)😉 You don't need to wash down your Amazon Prime packages I'm mostly a 😷 and ✋🤚 guy,myself..how are you doing???
@revenant Served 5 Presidents including Reagan and is one of the foremost virologists in the world..besides I am not washing down my packages😂 How ARE you?
@revenant Actually over here they reopened, since our numbers are much better compared to a few months ago (keep in mind the outbreak started earlier here as well, and we had one of the tightest lockdown, with most people cooperating and taking guidelines seriously). We'll see within the end of the next week if the numbers go up again - if they don't, and I hope they won't, everything will stay open.
Life in Italy is pretty much back to normality at the moment, with masking and distances of course, but so far we're doing fine and can't complain much. 🤞
I'm enjoying cycling in the meanwhile 😊 https://similarworlds.com/10-Hobbies/3329035-Well-bike-trips-are-now-allowed-regionally
@Elessar Italy was always on the news ! Somebody said : if you can control Italians, you can control the French, if you can control the French you can control the Germans and so on 😁
Oh I hope life will start looking kind of normal for you again !
@revenant I know, we've been the first to be hit unfortunately. But at least it seems like the worst is behind us, at this point.
Oh, it already did! The earliest attempt for reopening has started now 3 weeks ago, and the curve has kept going down. Since this week restaurants, pubs, hairdressers, gyms and pretty much almost every activity have resumed operation (with safety rules, ofc) and we'll see by the end of next week where we're directed. 🤞
It's either mutating ridiculously fast, or they are not conducting proper experimentation because everyone is demanding answers and they are under political pressure to just say ANYTHING!
@JollyRoger Yes, but reduced chances of getting it from surfaces vs droplets means it's not as easy as we previously speculated. Even because if it was, the lock-down wouldn't have helped much, I know very few who sterilize any and every product before storing them or even consuming them at home. I wonder who sterilizes, say, a delivered pizza.
well technically the proper response would have been to shut everytgn down for 2 years and do some proepr testing.. but since politicans cant have that you dont get proper results
Who's spreading this CRAP? 1/ not spread via surfaces = CRAP 2/ just not as infectious = CRAP
All that's changed is that the CDC has been able to produce some statistics to show where the virus has been and done its worst and because of than, the people in that area are LIKELY to be less affected in the future because of neighbourhood immunity - which simply means that if the neighbour has had it, that same neighbour won't be a threat to carry it again. THUS, the numbers of potential carriers diminishes. BUT: IF you encounter someone who hasn't had the virus = probably a friend of yours, the potential is still there if that person has come in contact with some other virus carrier. That encounter would then make you a potential virus carrier too. But you wouldn't know that until the virus incubates in you and you become sick (or get tested).
