Bears on the prowl...

A statement posted today by the Royal Airforce
Got to give it to Putin! He has his air force push the envelope. But I look at these Bear Bombers. Having worked with USAF B-52s, I'd rather have an 8 engine jet system moto gatin' me along in the sky. Got props...not so great (IMO) And those fighters? A well placed missile will put the Bear to sleep permanently.

@soar2newhighs Nothing wrong with turbo-props. I would guess these aircraft are intended to cruise relatively slowly.

@ArishMell Sure the worked fine on the Shackleton, and they might have even bean fine on Bears when they were new.

@WintaTheAngle Sorry, I'm not sure what you are getting at. Anything works fine when it's new, or looked after properly, whether built this year or 20 years ago. I expect the Bear uses gas-turbine driven propellers, rather then jet engines, for a definite reason!

No offence but them weak compared to the U.S. F35

@WintaTheAngle thank you.

@helensusanswift My dad also served at various airfields in the East Midlands including Coningsby. He enjoyed the Vulcan days the most.

@WintaTheAngle Then you should also be proud.

The Russians are still at their Cold War probing, then?
