What kind of actions result in psychological issues in teens?

Just asking

Good list from @basilfawlty89. I would add: parents who are overly controlling, don't create space for a child to explore their own ideas or emotions... are more highly likely to see delinquent tendencies in 11-15 year olds. This is based on Scottish research.

So parents who think the goal is control have no understanding of their role. Children may become rebellious or passive aggressive because their emotions have no way to go, and the only clear path they see is resistance.

By the time they are in late teens they need to have processed their emotions, thinking, values etc and begin to make responsible decisions, feeling as though their parents are supportive, listen, care, create space... but still provide guidance.
@Abstraction well since I’m much younger the new idea is die before marriage

@Cow1919 Sounds like a lot of pain inside...

Life can be brilliant. Imagine a movie that starts off really crap. Lots of people get up and walk out. But you stay, and then slowly it starts to make sense, and becomes the best movie you've ever seen. And you think - I feel sorry for those who walked out before they made sense of it.
@Abstraction not really

Building on what abstraction has said, I also believe that parents who physically and verbally abuse their children cause pyschological issues in the child. Parents who neglect their children are actually abusers as well, because the child feels unloved and ignored. Abandonment of children also causes issues. A recent high school shooter had been abandoned by his mother and was forced to live with neighbors.

Bullying, rape, sexual harassment, sexual assault, isolation, social ostracism. Hormones obviously add to this and many mental disorders trigger during the teen years.

@Cow1919 Well, for many like me with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, it triggered during their teens years, went dormant to full blown.

Hmm. For teens specifically? 🤔 I'd say rejection. That's a time in your life when you care more than ever what other people think.

Any and all have the potential... Some people seem to be born wearing a teflon cloak where nothing sticks... The rest of us are vulnerable
