Why do so many young people refuse to wear a coat in cold weather?

The young are physically immortal and do not yet understand that things don't always work as advertised. They can't foresee that the car may break down, the bus may not arrive, they may not be drinking hot chocolate at Starbucks in five minutes. They have spent their entire brief lives moving from climate controlled space to climate controlled space, and not dressing for the weather is a form of asserting their imaginary control over forces they do not understand

Or, they cannot afford or have not bothered to acquire warm jackets, gloves, hats.

I wasn’t as cold as a kid also I didn’t have one. I was too poor until I got old enough to buy my own.

Young & invincible!

I don’t wear a coat either unless I will be staying outside. I don’t want to drive in it and have to put it on and off. I don’t like feeling confined so I layer if I’m going to the stores.

I'll wear a coat when it's -10F. 25F sounds like shorts and tshirt weather.

You're from a different time. People have become averse to covering up.

I love coats, I love my long black stylish coat.

Those people have no common sense.

Perception of cold is different

It's cool.

I did that when I was in high school up until my mid-twenties.I only wore a winter coat when it was snowing.I wore my denim jacket otherwise.
