What do you think should happen to these teens (News Story)?

5 teens (ages 15-17 years old) in Michigan threw rocks off a highway overpass. One 6 pound rock was dropped and went through a windshield killing a man.

I understand that teens' brains aren't fully developed but even a 10 year old knows not to throw rocks at people

Meh, about 5 years in jail(with possibility of parole after around 1). They killed someone and should be punished but they will still be young when they get out so their lives won’t be completely ruined by a stupid mistake

@JRVanguard Yes exactly. I don't think this was their mission but you have to think about consequences, always.

@iamnikki Thank you for BA

@JRVanguard That's just a slap on the wrist.

I believe they should be held accountable and they should go to prison.

these teens knew the results of dropping drop off a bridge onto cars...I can bet you that the intent was to make someone wreck (maybe not die but definitely wreck) their punishment...whatever the full punishment is for manslaughter and no parole so they have to serve the full sentence
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@black4white Yes, It probably was. Ridiculous.
Serious prison time. I agree, I knew not to throw rocks at people.

Well its not uncommon for teens that murder to be tried as adults so this shouldnt be any different
MethDozer · M
@Tminus6453 No it's not. Murder means there was intent and malice. Manslaughter means there was to intentions or malice involved.
If you are provoked or do so in the heat of passion that's voluntary manslaughter. If you go up to someone and intentionally stab them out of malice then it's murder. If you make a stupid decision that results in someone getting killed then that's involuntary manslaughter.
Murder can also be voluntary or involuntary.
There's huge differences here.

There was malice on these teens part... throwing large rocks off a highway overpass onto cars is malice #murder
MethDozer · M
@Tminus6453 Look up malice. This textbook manslaughter.

Obviously they are sick in the head, and so is a system that does nothing to promote love and respect towards each other.
This was stopped here in my county with fencing on the overhead bridges. The people throwing rocks could never be identified

It's manslaughter... Not murder.. Hard to say... They do need to learn a lesson though. Idk what kind of punishment would be best for that... You ruined an entire families life from something completely preventable because your personality is the equivalent to that of a jackass...

I think something like many years of community service should be in order... Personally I don't feel jail time would help them learn anything since it wasn't an intentional killing...

I think they will have to live with a life of guilt and regret.I think they were young and stupid..
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
Aren't you "responsible" after the age of 10 and therefore able to be incarcerated?
gurlwatcher22 · 61-69, M
Try them as adults.Put 'em in population.
Have a great day.☺
