it's not so much 'banned' as the people who own the rights to the book have elected to stop publishing them. I think it was like 6 books, I'd never heard of a single one of them. the people who own the right [and probably a few others] felt that the books were various levels of insensitive, exclusionary, or generally inappropriate... so they stopped selling them. it's not really a ban. I think it's a little silly to do. if their goal was to stop the sales of the books, it's actually kinda backfired tremendously with all the attention they've pulled with it.

@dirge Who is next on the list to get their books banned?
@sunsporter1649 I dunno, but again. this wasn't a ban so much as a 'meh... I'm not really comfortable with selling this thing that I own any more. so I'm not gonna do it.'

@dirge Who was it that put the squeeze on the owners of those books to get them to be banned?

@Kwek00 Laughing at you left-wing nut job cultists who think that is the way to go. Keep it up, you are the worlds laughingstock.

@sunsporter1649 I don't know what I personally have to do with it. The people responding for publishing these books believe 6 books could be cut out of the entire series, because of some its content.
I don't really know what all the content is, we don't grow up with Dr. Seuss. I saw two images, and well maybe I don't understand it all. Over here in Belgium, old comics have been censored too, but years ago. Sometimes for cultural sensitivities, sometimes for outdated jokes, sometimes out of a form of descenscy because times change. Only a few years ago, a person from Congolese descent tried to get "Tin Tin in Congo" banned. But eventough that novel has been selfcensored by the studio that holds Hergé, They still publish the book. But Tin Tin is read by people from 15 years old. And well, if you ever read Asterix. Asterix just swims in racial stereotyping. No one gets a free pass.
But when censorship happened out here, it was just the person that holds the rights too these old commics that decide what is done. And they do it, because they listen to their custommers. Because they want to earn money. So if you are pissed off, be pissed off at the capitalists. Those greedy bastards did what they always do, they went for the money. And because of that, children can only read 50+ of the dr Seuss books today instead of 60+. I bet when they grow up and find out, they'll be super angry. But I hope they are angry at the capitalists, those greedy greedy bastards.
