I Am Old and Young At the Same Time

Earlier today I posted about children and their unique views on life and the world around them. Now I’m going to the other end of the age spectrum.
In the midst of this somewhat disgruntling day I had a phone conversation with an elderly gentleman who is nearing the end of his life at a rapid pace. We’ve talked several times in the past and not once has his physical pain caused any disruption with his thought processes. As we briefly discussed recent news topics - the NFL owners’ National Anthem decision, school shootings, politics, and business - I had to remind myself “this guy is on a morphine drip and he sounds like he’s hosting a radio show!”
As he ended the call I remarked how much I enjoyed the talk because his mind is as sharp as the proverbial tack.

His response: “the key to a sharp mind is to make it up as you go along.”

I've always been an old soul and love the nostalgia and wisdom older people pass along. It's definitly easier than a convo with the average millennial!

@SW-User That's a bit arrogant.

@MarkPaul How so? I said "average" millenial. I find most older people more interesting sometimes but I still have millenial and a wide age range of friends. I love the wisdom they carry that young tend not to. Myself included. If that is arrogant to you then so be it.

@seeandhear That's what I love. I used to visit a lady with dementia. She was clueless about present time all together but she laid out her history beautifully! I like the depth that so many older people can go into. Not all of them and some of them that have it together, see so vividly!

@seeandhear True but I was really meant for the Roaring 20's!! 40's or 50's atleast but no later. This world I'm in now isn't mine!
