I Am Old and Young At the Same Time
Earlier today I posted about children and their unique views on life and the world around them. Now I’m going to the other end of the age spectrum.
In the midst of this somewhat disgruntling day I had a phone conversation with an elderly gentleman who is nearing the end of his life at a rapid pace. We’ve talked several times in the past and not once has his physical pain caused any disruption with his thought processes. As we briefly discussed recent news topics - the NFL owners’ National Anthem decision, school shootings, politics, and business - I had to remind myself “this guy is on a morphine drip and he sounds like he’s hosting a radio show!”
As he ended the call I remarked how much I enjoyed the talk because his mind is as sharp as the proverbial tack.
His response: “the key to a sharp mind is to make it up as you go along.”
