I Can't Fit In With People

A colleague sitting next to me is always talking about her children / her bearing children. No matter whom she talks to/ what topics she talks about she could fit in her children into the conversation. Many people working here have children and are interested in talking about their children too. I feel I cannot fit in here. I have no children, and am not interested in getting married nor having children. Maybe nowhere in the world will I fit in, but I think it s really odd to talk about your family all the time in the office.

Im sure there’s a growing trend of people who don’t want to be parents. You may need to work near or in downtown metropolis, maybe think about entertainment based environment where people are less family oriented. ( not about the kids) I’m a single mom. I’ve been married. But I’m an independent thinker and have felt alone most of my life and get stared at when I’m just being myself. So you may just be original, but not alone because you’re “alone.”

@Mindful thank you for your advice. I should be confident with who I am, not afraid of being original as long as i feel my choices suit me.

Yes. I “walk alone” at work in my choices at work. And people don’t like me for it. So yes be true to yourself! Honestly, no matter what I do no one is happy and there is always someone that has the opposite opinion of what I’m doing.@Sssslm
