Vote early!

Voted early in some runoffs in my state today. I guarantee Texas is going to be a shitshow if you wait till the day of, and we’re pretty awful about allowing mail-in ballots in general, so vote as early as you can.

Trump has accomplished what Beto could not - he made Texas a swing state!

@JAYS21 and apparently democratic

But Kanye just announced that he is running, how can you vote already?
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@Poppapepe Plenty of reasons, actually, thanks for asking :)

1. The earlier you vote, the smaller the crowds, the shorter the lines, and the shorter the wait. That makes it less of a hassle, gives you more time to go about the rest of your day, and lessens the chance that you’ll catch COVID or spread it to someone else. Look at how long the lines have been for in-person, day-of voting recently; it’s going to be a mess, so if you can you may as well get it done sooner.

2. At this point, with the presumptive nominees all but official, there is vanishingly little either one could realistically do to change mind of the mythic “undecided voter.” A lot of people know who they’re going to vote for already, so those people may as well cast their ballots early and be done with it. Mind you, that’s for federal, but for state and local, those candidates are pretty set in stone by now as well.

3. There are lots of state and local run-offs and primaries going on as well, and those matter too. Not everything is federal, and schedules and calendars are going to vary wildly depending on where you live.

4. If you still think Kanye’s a thing, he’s not. This is a stunt to promote his album. He said slavery was a choice to promote his last album. He’s long past the deadline to even get on the ballot in so many states (including big states like Texas and New York), and would have to get hundreds of thousands of signatures by the 15th to qualify in Florida (and even more by August to qualify in California). He ain’t running.

5. So many others. Maybe your drivers license is set to expire before November and you really don’t trust the DMV to issue your replacement in time (or the poll workers to accept it). Maybe you know you’ll be busy that day. Maybe you just want the peace of mind of knowing you did it already.

In short, if you can vote early, there’s no reason not to and plenty of reasons to. Hope that clears it up!

@TiffAching yup, it's not a subtle point you're making. Could we be friends? Something about your assertiveness,it gives a weird sense of security. How about it?
@Poppapepe Kanye is running in the general election, not the primary.

For president?
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@MrBrownstone Whatever elections there are where you live. State, local, federal. It all matters.
