What is one thing you have done that you will regret for the rest of your life?

On new years day 1990 i jumped off the local highway bridge that goes over our river. Had been doing it since i was a kid. But this time i brought my friend from out of town. I knew he could swim well but what i didn't know is that he could't handle the cold water, and when we both hit the water he couldn't cope withe it and froze up and even though there were about 50 people on the bank watching. I tried to save him but he kept trying to climb up me and was pushing me under. He had a vice-like grip of my arm and was screaming don't let me go. But i hate myself for this even now, but i had to force his hand off my arm while he was screaming at me no no please don't let me go.. or i would have drowned too. There was a moment where i was going to go down with him, but for some reason I swam to the bank yelling for help but nobody helped. I tried to grab a ball to throw to him but the people playing with it wouldn't let me. I watched him float behind some trees and that was the end. I have to drive across the same bridge every day to work. It haunts me.

Settling for the wrong reasons.

Probably should have had a go at cutting off my own head long ago.

When I was ten I threw stones at a couple of geese with my friend. None of my rocks hit a goose, but my friend's did. I can still remember the sound the rock made when it struck the goose and the way it wobbled disoriented afterwards. I feel ashamed whenever I think about it.

I kind of wish I followed my high school bf to the university he went to. I could have gone there but I just didn't like the locale and the vibe of the people. I'm still very fond of him and I think if I had gone to his school we might still be together.

I was in a long distance relationship. I regret it now.

Nothing.

I don't look into the past and feel regret

But with the amount of knowledge I have right now, I would never pick up drinking or smoking and probably optimised my life a bit better

The stuff I got into when I was younger.

Did an armed hold up when I was 19 which landed me a criminal record and international travel restrictions. That’s my biggest of many regrets.

Fortunately only the "fork in the road" stuff. What would have happened if I had done this instead of that. But I cant regret any choices.

By not going to prom :/

I dont feel the gravity of my life choices yet. Ask me again in 10yrs.

It’s more what I [b]haven’t[/b] done that I regret. Top of the list is not having had another child. After losing my son I just never did. It wouldn’t have been to replace him, obviously, but it probably would’ve brought some joy back into my life.

Being better at managing, especially saving money.

Nothing so far. Hopefully it stays that way.
