Why is Europe a continent?

@SW-User Well that's what I mean. It's considered separate from Asia more due to history and culture than due to geography.

It's also of course because the people who first labeled the continents were from Europe. If the continents had been an Asian tradition, they may not have given Europe continent status.

@SW-User riding your train of thought, why would Europe even want continent status? ._.

@SW-User I don't know, the current state of the EU doesn't exactly attest to the "unity" that some Europeans seem to feel exists in their continent.

They talk now of Eurasia,like in "1984" but the Ural Mountains make such a handy divider @SW-User

I'm thinking more in a geographic sense. It is contiguous land connected to Asia but all not considered one

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I dunno. Europe seems to have some land running on one side .-.
