How do you quit a job without giving a two week notice?

I know it's not very professional to do, but the person I work for is very unprofessional...

I was 17 and I was working a job and my manager knew that the 3rd Saturday of the month I always had a martial arts tournament that I participated in. I looked at my schedule and noticed that I was scheduled, so I gave a heads up to my boss and he said he would fix it.

Headed out of town that Saturday and I get a call from one of the assistant Managers and they ask where I am and I said Brad was supposed to fix the schedule...He said ok.

I come in to work the next day already bruised and battered and I look at the schedule and I notice that I am only scheduled on Sundays now and I asked about it and I was told "We are not sure of your dedication.

I replied "My dedication?" I show up early, I stay late, I come in when people call out since I live close by and how dare you call me not dedicated!!!

I was tempted to give a 2 week notice and then I thought....Hey, a 2 week notice = 2 days worth of work.

I quit
It'd look better on you if you just worked notice as you should anyway. Just because your employer is unprofessional, it doesn't mean that you should lower yourself to his/her standards.

Later on, you get the satisfaction of maintaining that you did the right thing regardless of your employers practices.

I never gave a two-week notice, I always quit on the spot or got fired. And now I live in a van down by the river!

you don't have to give a notice, it's just polite to do so. you can just tell them you're quitting.

you just quit, it doesn't look good for future employers, but if you don't want to ever list them as a reference then it won't matter. If they are unprofessional, odds are if you give them a 2 weeks notice they may just say to leave now anyway.

there is no law that states you must give two weeks notice. it has just become the norm. gives you a chance to finish up a few things, and possibly train someone depending on what you did.
I always thought it best, to not burn any bridges though.

If you wish to leave, just leave, but NEVER attempt to use that job on your resume unless you give a two week notice, or they will burn you.

Well you would “give” a 2 week notice, not “ask” for one.

If you don’t care to use them on your resume, then you can quit without notice.
