My favorite walking trail is along a wooded creek, appropriately called Dear Creek, sandwiched between populated areas.
Over the years, the deer have learned to stay clear of heavy traffic streets, thanks in part to a flock of geese that often bring traffic to a standstill.
The deer are so quiet and it's not unusual to suddenly find myself just a few feet away as we watch each other suspiciously. It's like which of us are invading the other's domain.
@Heartlander Yes, they are very quiet...I just peeked around the corner and there are 4 Does now. We have a group of Morning Doves that feed too, they are great watch dogs ;-) if anything is stirring, they fly away.. so I know when the deer are coming in for their feed.
@4meAndyou They can see us but we can't them. They blend right on in.. I love N.C., I was born there. Love going to the Garnet mine there, close to the Tenn. line.
Ditto on North Carolina. In a previous life I spent a college summer working as a summer camp counselor at a YMCA camp near Greensboro. Great summer. Great place.
@Echoing , I have "outdoor clothes" that I keep sprayed and put on to go outside. The spray I use is supposed to last through several washings. Seems to work. Lyme disease is nothing to fool around with! Hope he recovered ok.
@Datura Kinda did... He got Bell Palsy from the tick/lyme. That was when we were on EP. He tried to run away because he said I did not sign up for this. I sent him a Tens unit, and about 4 mos. later he was all better. He still has spells where his eye gets lazy on him when he is over tired. It was not a good time for him.
@Echoing wow..it sure wasn't a good time for him. So glad he had you!! I've known a couple other people who also had some long term effects. Some had lyme for years and went undiagnosed for a long time years ago when it was just coming to light.
I feed the deer too...with my day lilies and hosta and rhododendron and Mt laurel. Lol.
Most morning and evening I have a herd of 6 to 12 wandering around the yard, grazing on the ivy, eating the flowers at my back door. I will never see a day lily actually bloom, I fear!
My neighbor was visiting the other day and we were standing in the yard. A fawn came sauntering by and startled when it saw us...from 2 feet away! It startled us, we startled it! So cute!
@Echoing, it sure is good for the soul. Seems like it was meant to be, huh?
My Greenhouse is 15×25, brick on sand floor, wood frame construction with double hung windows all along 2 sides and 2 patio doors on one side. It's attached to the kitchen where a porch used to be. Two skylights., shed type roof. I built it over 35 years ago. I'll try to figure out how to post pictures.
