I feed the deer too...with my day lilies and hosta and rhododendron and Mt laurel. Lol.

Most morning and evening I have a herd of 6 to 12 wandering around the yard, grazing on the ivy, eating the flowers at my back door. I will never see a day lily actually bloom, I fear!

My neighbor was visiting the other day and we were standing in the yard. A fawn came sauntering by and startled when it saw us...from 2 feet away! It startled us, we startled it! So cute!

@Datura I see the deer every day and I never get tired of watching them. Got a 8 point buck that comes in off and on...he is a beauty. My dogs keeps the deer away from my gardens close to the house. My veggie garden has electric fence around it.

@Echoing , my problem with them eating my plants started a few years ago when my old Yellow Lab passed away. Probably should get another dog...

@Datura Good morning! Yup, they are useful and loveable! My tee shirt I have on now says... Life is better with a dog! :-)

I would rather put up with deer, ticks, and whatever Nature has to offer than be in town or a city and dealing with neighbors.

@Echoing , Good Mornin'!

I so agree about town vs country life! People ask me if I don't get lonely way out here.....lol. Nope! Never!

@Datura Sometimes I do, but mostly I get bored. … Mostly in the winter months, I get cabin fever and by spring..I am walking the floors. lol... I am a talker at times ;-) and Climber, a quiet guy. At least he is a great listener..lol!

@Echoing Don't know if you knew that my husband passed away in November 2013, so it's just me now. Luckily I've always enjoyed alone time. I have a greenhouse that helps get me through the winter, plus Netflix , books, painting.
I miss my kids tremendously and wished they lived closer. But they call nearly every day, so that helps.
I guess I've always been a bit of a hermit...

@Datura No, I did not know. (hug) huh... now I know the rest of the story. I see you!! ;-) So you are more special than I knew.

I have always been a loner. Even when I was in my home town, I stayed to myself. Like me going camping once a year with friends... That is enough to make me content.

I had a greenhouse once, 12 by 12. I need to get one again. I like that thought! It would serve me well to play in the dirt in the winter months.

@Echoing , the greenhouse is so healing for me. Nothing like puttering among the plants when the snow is coming down. I love it! They say that having your hands in soil grounds us and cleanses toxins and I believe it!
You need you a greenhouse!

lol... @Datura Guess what I'm getting for Christmas! 😁 Yes! Thank you so much. I love renewing our friendship here. It's good for the soul!

@Echoing, it sure is good for the soul. Seems like it was meant to be, huh?

My Greenhouse is 15×25, brick on sand floor, wood frame construction with double hung windows all along 2 sides and 2 patio doors on one side. It's attached to the kitchen where a porch used to be. Two skylights., shed type roof. I built it over 35 years ago.
I'll try to figure out how to post pictures.

@Datura Lordy be... a dream for me! Yes, please try to post a picture so I can drool...lol.... wow... cool! Awesome!
