What's your favorite hockey fight?

Hard for me to choose just one but John Scott vs. Kevin Westgarth might be my pick for favorite.

By far. Old school hockey!👍

@BlueMetalChick Chicago helped make the Big Bad Bruins. They traded Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge and Fred Stanfield to them right after Bobby Orr got there.

Met Orr several times - class act all the way

@Slade Oi, real tough guys. Back before the days of the fake ass edgelords like Zdeno Chara and Sean Thornton.
Slade · 56-60, M
@BlueMetalChick Tough and extremely skilled. A real fun time in the sport

Jeremy Roenick vs Marty McSorley
The one where the guy gets knocked out
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@faithfulhusband There's surprisingly few fights in which a guy gets truly KO'd but there's been a few.
Slade · 56-60, M
@BlueMetalChick People dail to realize that guys are on skates thus lose a huge amount of leverage in punches. Getting a punch, while not pleasant, won't cause the tremendous damage one would do if feet were firmly planted on ground
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Slade Hockey fighting is like its own martial art form specifically because they're on skates and standing in a nigh-frictionless surface.
zork0000 · 56-60, M
I think the days of hockey fights should be long past.

The way games are refereed now means that enforcers really are not needed. Players should be concentrating on skills rather than being hotheaded barbarians.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@zork0000 Fighting will always be part of hockey. It has to be.
If we are talking just two guys fighting Bob Probert v. Tie Domi (round 2) however if we are talking a game...can't beat Red Wings v. Avalanche
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@istillhaveanameitsrick Probert and Domi, two of the purest enforcers lol. They definitely are icons.
RareObjects · 41-45, M
The one I had when I was 14. Got me suspended from the hockey team and all so A) I got to take out anger and B) I didn't have to exercise anymore. So it was a win-win.
the game where i slip & fall on my ass & the first person who tries to help gets whacked
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@lovelywarpedlemon How are you gonna whack them from down on the ice though?

Unless you're playing goalie, I guess.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
I’ll let you know lol
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@CrustyDDingus Could almost be like Casey Jones.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick I believe the Skeleton’s name in that picture is Bones Jackson, changed to Bones Justice in the Saturday morning cartoon.
Ali vs. Frazier

Thw Punch up in Piestany. Best moment in International hockey history.[
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer But what is it that makes it exciting if not the appreciation of skill? I don't get the appeal if it's just people doing the same thing but not as good.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick The dirty goony game of old aNHL is just a better game. It's tight, it's fast, it's stressful. Beating the shit out of each other to gruel a goal. It isn't that they aren't as good, it's a different game.

Just like how streetball would be better than the NBA. Real lacrosse being alright but girls lacrosse being booooring af.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer You could make the argument that street ball is better than NBA because street ballers show off skills that NBA players don't. They do a lot more trick dribbling, unorthodox passing, so on and so forth. That's the same reason I'd place old school KHL hockey above NHL. They show off a lot wider range of skills. Sure they don't hit or check as much, but they do a lot more out of the box stick handling and shooting, and more acrobatic goaltending.
