What's your favorite hockey fight?

Hard for me to choose just one but John Scott vs. Kevin Westgarth might be my pick for favorite.

Thw Punch up in Piestany. Best moment in International hockey history.[

@MethDozer I always found that incident to be more of an embarrassment than anything. Fighting was virtually unheard of in the Soviet league at that point in time. A lot of those guys ended up doing really flagrant shit like hitting Canadian players with the stick and stuff like that, because they had no idea what Team Canada was doing.

@BlueMetalChick The Canadians were playing real hockey instead of bland Euro hockey. Dirty Russians had nothing without their steroids.

It was just bad officaiating really.

@MethDozer Bland Euro hockey? You mean...skilled hockey? I get that they play in larger rinks which means less physical contact, and that can result in it not being as hectic and exciting in some ways, but the Russian leagues, especially back then when most of the players were ex Red Army, were world famous for super clean play, incredibly accurate shots, flawless passing, and phenomenal goaltending. If the loud, fast, and chaotic style of smaller rinks like what you see in the NHL or AHL is your style, that's fine, but to call that level of skill and practice "bland" is just silly.

@BlueMetalChick Yes, clean is bland, spergy, and lame.

The classic North American game is much better.

@MethDozer I don't understand how you can find more excitement out of someone doing a worse job at something. I mean, do you also consider bad instrumentalists to be more fun to listen to?
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick The NHL is a better game. That's why. "Scienctific" "technical" sports are boring. Actually, all sports are kinda boring really. Clean games just 10x so.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer But what is it that makes it exciting if not the appreciation of skill? I don't get the appeal if it's just people doing the same thing but not as good.
MethDozer · M
@BlueMetalChick The dirty goony game of old aNHL is just a better game. It's tight, it's fast, it's stressful. Beating the shit out of each other to gruel a goal. It isn't that they aren't as good, it's a different game.

Just like how streetball would be better than the NBA. Real lacrosse being alright but girls lacrosse being booooring af.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MethDozer You could make the argument that street ball is better than NBA because street ballers show off skills that NBA players don't. They do a lot more trick dribbling, unorthodox passing, so on and so forth. That's the same reason I'd place old school KHL hockey above NHL. They show off a lot wider range of skills. Sure they don't hit or check as much, but they do a lot more out of the box stick handling and shooting, and more acrobatic goaltending.
