Think it'd be better to Uber around a new city or get a rental car?

I know that I'd also potentially have to pay for parking at certain places with a rental car.

I was looking into tour buses/sightseeing bus but I see that it specifically says you will only pass by some places and not actually get to go in.

So I'm wondering if that will be worth it

One week to go and Im still not ready😬

Car rental at a destination cities may lead to parking fees at hotels and elsewhere, also some cities/states may have special car rental taxes that aren't included in the advertisement. Sometimes the car rental process can be nasty ... Opps, your car isn't ready, or all we have is this more expensive car, then the insurance. Plus checking the auto in and out could easily add another 2+ hours to your airport time.

Most hotels have courtesy airport shuttles, sometimes on a schedule, sometimes they run on demand ... all making the transition from airport to hotel easier. If the airport is at a distance, there's often special public transportation.

Unless there's a special need for an auto, like I'm going to a nearby city, it's usually a no-brainer for me.

Opps, add in another factor: parking difficulty in some metropolitan areas. Like impossible in some big cities.

If I can also add, traffic in some big cities can be brutal. So like if you're in tiny-town, country state USA, and suddenly find yourself driving in a place like NYC, Dallas, Houston, LA, etc. it can be a pretty intimidating experience. Suddenly discovering that your exit lane is 6 lanes to the right and a half mile ahead, in rush hour traffic and the overwhelming odds are that you will miss that turn :)

Have a wonderful trip!
And Good luck!

You could split the difference if there's good public transport. Buy a reputable guidebook, get a bus/train schedule and make your own tour.

if money not your concern, definately rent a car for sighseeing is much better choice.Uber/bus restrain your perimeter and time of tour.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@UsernameAlreadyInUse is a rental cheaper than Uber? I've never used Uber, nor rented a car
UsernameAlreadyInUse · 26-30, M
@iamnikki Uber is charge base on number of trip and distance of your destination but for car rental you paid for fuel and rental and you can make the most destination out of it within day.If you want to do multiple touring pit stop car rental is much cheaper.

@UsernameAlreadyInUse thank you . I am also concerned about the location. We will be downtown. Dowtown areas are usually difficult to navigate, especially if you're from out of town.

Depends on how leisurely you want to travel

Is it a city with good public transport?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@NenaRussa I'm not taking public transportation. I've never even done that in my own city
