Try and get to know people you're living with. I made great friends my freshman year who are still my friends now that I've been been graduated for almost a year.
Try and join a club or two. College is a great place to find out what you're interested in. Interests may develop as you're there. Clubs can lead to something to put on a resume.
Go to office hours and get to know professors. I got to know some early in my freshman year whom I ended up knowing for the duration of my undergrad experience. I'm applying to grad school now and they've agreed to write letters of rec.
But yeah, have fun. I was pretty nervous and shy, but you only get one shot at being a college freshman. Make the most of it. :)

Kugelblitz, eh? Sci-fi fan? Okay, here's my advice. Your first year might seem easy, depending on what classes you're taking and how you did in high school. But if you're taking anything technical, like a science or law program, or even history, it'll get much deeper as you go through your classes. Some can stay kind of easy, but they often are less interesting and less economically incentivized too.
Basically what I'm saying is, don't be deceived if your first year seems easy. If you want challenge, you will find it soon. And remember to make the right kind of friends. Parties can be fun, but don't let the party animals consume you.

Do not get caught up in the, so called 'college life' of parties. Be a party pooper and study harder than you ever have. In a few short years, you will be graduating as most of those party deadbeats are long gone.then, you can partie like crazy and celebrate the beginning of your grand career.

@OlderDude I hate parties so that won't be a big issue. I'm just going to get involved with clubs.
