Questions again! :) Deleting other people's comments

Is it accurate to think people are able to delete other people's comments here?
If so, at any time or only on their own posts and why? :)

on your own thread. If they are being a troll or just annoying you can delete their post.

Only on your posts , not anyone else’s

I do believe that we only have that option on our own posts, and I still don't know how I feel about that. I have seen people abuse that feature. I answered a question a couple of weeks back about dyeing one's clothes, and I said that I don't bother dyeing clothes a different color, I just go and get the color I want from the store. And the other person said that I was annoying and deleted my comment from their question.

Now, I don't really care, I just want to understand why one asks a question if they don't want an answer.

If you start a thread, such as this one, you own it. You can delete anyone's comments. You don't have that kind of power over someone else's thread.

@SW-User I don’t know how often it happens. I have some rules for participation in my threads: remain on point and don’t try to hijack the thread by switching stories.

Some people simply delete what they don’t agree with.

@Northwest I didn't understand it at the time, but I do believe someone deleted one of my comments because I didn't agree. Makes you wonder exactly which posts (people) to comment with.

@SW-User You learn by experience. There are several SW accounts, whose comments I choose not to comment on, as they are liable to delete my posts, or misrepresent them, by deleting comments leading up to them.

Only on your posts albums and whiteboard. And it always says it was you “the author of the main post” who deleted it
I only do it if they share stupid stuff just to be a troll or ignorant. I don't need rubbish comments to my questions or answers

Some people comment inappropriate things
I frequently delete comments that are insults ... a lot .... I have no need to read that stuff even once.

But, 99Xs out of 100 I immediately block the person too.

It conforms with American free speech.

It keeps my feed clean and focused

@questionWeaver I wouldn't put up with insults either.

Like people said, you can delete on your own post or account. Usually people delete negative comments.. Anything from offensive to just not liking. It's up to you, it's your account.

{@breezeybree] if you post a question and do not like a response for what ever reason you can

I think there's a capability to do it if you wanted to remove a reply to a topic you have started.
On your own posts, yes you can. Why is at your own discretion. I generally don’t have a problem with replies that disagree with me, as long as they’re not abusive or trolling.

@bijouxbroussard I am the same. I don't think I'd delete anything, but it explains a few things. lol
