Do things ever work out the way they're supposed to?

Very rarely. When they do it's terrific, but when they don't it can either be a disaster or turn out just as good or even better than originally planned.

Just because we don't want things to work out the way they do does not mean they aren't supposed to work out the way they do.

There are usually bumps in the road but in the end most things do work out in some way or another.

In my experience? Never.

On a cosmic scale or on the self satisfaction level?

Always. But maybe not the way you want them to.
