What gives you the right to judge other people?

SW-User
Good question. Those who do often haven't accepted themselves, project traits they feel uncomfortable with into others
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick We might be understanding judging in different ways. I'm a psychologist, or was - academic - until made redundant. I see a lot of projection here, and judging rather than supporting - this is what I believe Eggyegg was meaning (but there is some great support too). Anyway BlueMetalChick, no judgement

@SW-User I'm an astronomer, so psychology is not my strong suit.

@BlueMetalChick Great subject area! Interesting :)

We all have a kangaroo court in our mind and then we execute our "guilty".

@MasterLee Illinois governors gave away pardons that way before they went to prison, why would donnie be any different?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Pfuzylogic why would you think logically. Questions of the ages.

What gives you the right to judge me for judging other people?
Egg01 · 56-60, F
@PaViSe Nothing :)
SW-User
I know :-(

It’s a hard habit to break.

My basic superiority...😁
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Now this is a good answer 😂
SW-User
Well, it happens automatically whether it's conscious or not. You don't have to act on your prejudice but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
SW-User
@SW-User I think most people wont admit this hahah
show me a human and I'll show you a hypocrite

Most everyone thinks they are non judgmental, but almost everyone has a blind spot as to what they are judgmental against
Egg01 · 56-60, F
@Dayeshadow I have to remind myself often not to judge. But I judge myself freely and harshly often too
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Egg01 Why would you judge yourself but not others?
Egg01 · 56-60, F
@BlueMetalChick I'm fucked up. But that's just me, and things are never as black and white as they may appear. I believe we can judge others harshly because of some doctrine we follow or the way we were taught and nurtured. And that we should try to be kinder and more understanding if we can.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Nothing, nobody needs a "right" to judge. Judgment is human nature, it's something we do on a regular basis, and often times it helps us accurately form an opinion of another person.
Steve42 · 56-60, M
God gave me my free will. So I have the right to do anything I please. I also have the right to pay the consequences.

SW-User

I judge everybody.
You know someone and if you think good of them that is a judgement same as you know them and something not so good is a judgement. Many judgements are accurate some are not. I do not get to know each person I meet but I make little judgements from how they look, speak, act etc
It is like a job interview we don't arrive in dirty sweatpants and a ripped t shirt no shoes etc and expect them to just hire us to see if we will be professional. We dress up so hopefully they see and judge we take this opportunity seriously. We don't all look, act and talk how we 'should' all the time. I sometimes head to the grocery store with hair in a balled mess and I am sure anyone that glanced my way might think I was just lazy. I know that. But most of the time the little judgements we make about random people we forget seconds after they are made, because we all have a lot more stuff going on then whatever that stranger is about in a moment. We also can't always trust the judgements we make of people who 'act' right. I know someone who to the outside world is good looking funny, charming. But he is sick, very sick, and he is two different people. We just make the best judgments we can at the time with the information provided. It is good to remember though that each person we see has their own story, past, and problems we know nothing of. Being harsh usually is not warranted.
