If the Republicans can erase an insurrection, back up the Big Lie, Suppress Democrat votes, and Spread Conspiracies

Doesn't that make the Democrats, specifically Biden, look weak?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F Best Comment
Well, yeah, it does. It's a testament to how inept the democrats are that they're struggling against a party as ridiculously stupid as the republicans.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@BlueMetalChick It's fairly insane that one party can measure their ideology gap between Marjorie Taylor Green and Mitt Romney, though one is actually is psychotic they are going to vote the same on basically everything. The other has Ocasio-Cortez and freaking Machin in the same party.

@BlueMetalChick The Republicans are better grass rooted and have followers believing whatever Trump says...

Hate Trump all you want... but damn, can he suck the oxygen out of a political cycle, get all the focus on him, with no oxygen for anyone else, and play himself up as a victim to his base, and get people to blindly follow him. You might not like him, but that ability deserve some notices.

Whole Democrats are listening to what... 5 to 15 different main leaders, not one focal one...

And really 2020 was about political sides killing themselves, as Trump just sucked the oxygen out too much, where people got annoyed with always hearing about him...

And the Democrats should of won huge, but they killed themselves with areas that hated the defund the police slogan, even though the areas the the democrats used it, they won... but it still killed the democrats whom were against it in their races as the Republicans were able to paint a wide brush and put it on all democrats and not just the ones in liberal areas that were behind it.

@Viper Democrats have very strong grassroots support but the problem.is that the democratic party itself HATES that. They go out of their way to oppose that kind of support and shun them.

It's easier for Republicans to organize because they're basically a far-right white, suburban/rural predominantly Southern/lower Midwest fundamentalist Christian party. In other words, homogenous. Plus the nature of the Senate and the Electoral College gives them outsized power even though they're clearly the minority party.

The Democrats comprise moderates rightfully disgusted by the GOP all the the way to the far left. A lot more difficult to find consensus.

I know it's trendy to blame the Democratic Party, but it's really the structure of government - which makes the two party system inevitable - that hamstrings the opposition to the far right. The US would be a better place if we had a parliamentary system. And if the Senate was abolished. No upper house in the Western world has such veto power over legislation.
@luckranger71 Veto power over the law.
I think the piece that is often overlooked is the Democrats are just the diet coke flavor of the GOP. Slightly more moderate or identical policy positions with better optics, PR and good speeches. That is how without any change in political views Pat Buchanan went from fringe right wing fascist to liberal centrist.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Exactly right. In world terms American politics has a right wing and a borderline Nazi wing.
@whowasthatmaskedman Pretty much.

It depends how you see strength... if beating up your enemy at every turn is strength, then yeah he's weak. If turning the other cheek, being professional, doing your job and moving forwards without distractions are strength than no not nessarily.

But in modern politics, it seems to be the political people focus on the first one... like Trump.

But the second one might be more powerful... like Biden... though, at some point, when the time is right (like when someone publicly asks him this question), he needs a freaking great response that does the beating up, like

Q: Didn't Trump show more strength by using verbal beating to anyone whom dare questions him? A: Well maybe if you consider insurrection a strength, but I prefer when elected officials don't have to hide from a mob.
@Viper The point is the Republicans stage an insurrection against it's own Government to change the outcome of an election and they are getting away with it. Manchin is getting money from Koch and selling the entire country out and no one but AOC is willing to talk about that.
Viper · M
@Pitchblue I prefer to say Trump did, instead of the Republicans, but that could be my biased speaking.

What? A politician sell their vote? No.... A politician putting themselves first, you don't say?

I feel like it happens all the time, just more clear at the moment...

Don't get me wrong, I hate it... but 9 outta 10 politicians probably put themselves first, and everything else second.
@Viper There were tours of the building in advance, there were the R speakers , there was the constant propaganda by a handful of Republicans for a month in advance, there was the lack of direction for the Capital Police, there was the refusal to send any help for the Capital Police, etc, etc. It was not just Trump.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Only if more than the lunatic fringe Trump supporters actually believe it. Right now The Republican Party is preaching to a diminishing number of faithful. Look at the thinning ranks here...
@whowasthatmaskedman Justice for the working people until those people find out the Rich don't pay taxes and Merrick Garland wants to prosecute the person who let that information out.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Pitchblue Obviously the system still needs work..
@whowasthatmaskedman It's gotten so insane. MTG, Gaetz, Jordan, Mo, Louie are all reasonable people to the GQP.

One group's wholesale subscription to delusion, has no effect on another group. These are two separate things.

I don't see the Administration's agenda slowing down at all.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
Makes the system look broken, but where will the cracks lead and to what effect on the rest of the world?
Stopmakingsense · 56-60, F
It makes them look complacent.
AbusedNeglected · 36-40, M
Not the biggest worldly concern...
