Largest Ferry Service to Martha’s Vineyard Hit with Ransomware Attack

This is Biden’s America.

The largest ferry service to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket was hit with a ransomware attack on Wednesday.

The company said the ferry service was still running scheduled trips, but people were unable to book or change reservations online.

The company urged customers to use cash because the credit card systems were down.

Wednesday’s ransomware attack on Steamship Authority comes after several other cyberattacks on American companies.

A hacking group with links to the Chinese government penetrated the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s computer systems in April.

In the last month, ransomware hackers have targeted the Colonial Pipeline and the world’s largest meat supplier.

A few weeks ago ransomware hackers shut down the Colonial Pipeline, creating gas lines and shortages in Southeastern states.

JBS, the world’s largest beef supplier was hit with a ransomware attack on Sunday, threatening US meat supply.

One-fifth of US beef production was wiped out after JBS paused processing at five of its biggest beef plants which manage a total of 22,500 cattle per day.

Funny how all these things are getting hacked, yet it can’t happen to elections.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Extremely insightful Mr B. Shockingly none of the lefties on here has a clue how to respond. Figures. @MrBrownstone
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@jackjjackson They “didn’t “ see the post.

at this point morbid curiosity would be the only reason I’d even turn the evening news on to watch.

Ransomware has been increasing for years. It is an insanely lucrative business. It would happen under anyone because it is so darn hard to stop.

Many businesses pay the criminals. It should be made illegal.
SW-User
@Candleholder You think it's legal?
Candleholder · 36-40, T
@SW-User In many places it's not. It's not what I think. It's what I know.
@Candleholder I say if it's not illegal everywhere, it should be. It's literally extortion.

I heard about Martha's Vineyard. I think that was trying to get Obama's attention...so that he could box Biden's ears.

The Russians are trying to show us that they can shut down the whole country if they want to, just like the movie Live Free or Die Hard. The idea that was thrown out there that this is "just the work of free lance Russian hackers" is wishful thinking. Putin is directing it.

If Biden keeps denying it, then he doesn't have to do anything...and he probably doesn't want to do anything, because it would disturb his naps.

Still, since we do NOT want a centralized, bloated government running the entire show...with their cyber fingers in every single jelly donut...private industry is going to have to put on their big boy pants and step up to the plate.

I have said this before...their failure to protect their cyber systems is on them.

PC Matic advertises constantly. They can block ransonware. They are on television so often they are in danger of edging out the My Pillow guy.

Private industry has to stop being so damned cheap, and they have to take some responsibility for protecting THEMSELVES.

And not JUST because we like or need to eat beef, or because Southerners need gas, or because Obama is stuck on fantasy island.

It's in their own self interest. You can't make money if you are shut down, and you aren't making a profit for your shareholders if you are paying ginormous ransoms.

I know you know this has ZERO to do with Biden.
I find it interesting though, that you are trying to see how many people believe it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@Carla
you expect an immediate fix.
It's National Security!
Trump got a vaccine in what, two weeks?
Find the hackers and stomp them hard to make a point!
Biden will discuss it with Putin in two weeks.
What a hero.
Carla · 61-69, F
Exactly, @Kwek00.
At the very least, this administration is making an effort.
And not because of the noise coming out of the cult.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Budwick you know better than the...trump made the vaccine thing, too.
I think he may do better at rebuking putin than the last guy ever did. He was happy bending to putin. And...it's all on tape.
Tminus6453 · M
Its what happens when you pay the ransoms, every cyber criminal out there wants a payday
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
Just sounds like regular governement problems.
This has been happening all over the world, including in the US during the Trump years.
But I guess this wasn't important enough to talk about in 2017-2020, but it seems really concerning now... wonder why that is. 🤣

@curiosi If Fauci publicly stated that and it’s on record either audio or in print, he probably took a page from Obama and the MIT man Gruber, dubbed the architect of “Obamacare” who said the American people were too stupid to see how they were getting shafted by them as they pushed Obamacare.
Two pathetic people, Fauci and Gruber.
curiosi · 61-69, F
More for the libs to scream "RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA!) Keep it up as more people are waking up to what is really going on.
@curiosi whoever is behind these attacks, my guess is that they smell fear and sense weakness in the Biden administration and will continue to exploit their abilities going as far as they can to do whatever damage they can.
How much of the Green New Deal’s ( not infrastructure) 6 Trillion is going into cyber security?

Sell tickets for cash only, first come first served. Extra ferries on standby for busy periods.

Data stolen none
System shutdown none
Hack ability zero
cycleman · 61-69, M
all staged with Trump and his cronies deliberately opening the doors, just to spin the tightening of security
@cycleman Yeah, I wouldn't put it past them.
SW-User
What's any of that have to do with Biden? XD
Budwick · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire

Budwick thinks part of the president's job description is cybersecurity for national security. Nation wide food and fuel supplies would be part of that.

@LordShadowfire doesn't give a rats ass about national security.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Budwick Then why did you back up a president that didn't increase the budget when it comes to cybersecurity? And also diminished the budget with 119 milion in 2019 after a year full of ransomware attacks and hacking attempts?
@Budwick likes to tell lies about other users. He's a mind reader.
Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute...Nantucket is a real place?????
@MrBlueGuy I once knew a man from Nantucket...
Send in the military

back before they became politically biased and spent all their time trying to conjure up evidence of collusion on political candidates, this is what we had an FBI and CIA for... 🙄
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
This is going to be quite the inconvenience for coastal elites.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@jackjjackson Im sure biden will send the navy to ferry obama
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
I thought you were going to volunteer. @MarineBob

Oooh no poor upper middle class bougie people 🥺
@SW-User I know. It will be such an inconvenience when people can't get to their fifth summer home.
SW-User
@LordShadowfire my heart bleeds for them 😢
MarineBob · 56-60, M
We charge a small fee for electronic transactions
And once again, we see you trying to tell us that it's Joe Biden's job to take care of cybersecurity for private corporations.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfirelike the garage pull was President Trumps fault
@MarineBob Am I supposed to know what you're babbling about?
