At this point, it's almost like the Democrats should offer anti-Trump Republicans the chance to join their party as a moderating voice and absorb the

millions of voters who lean conservative but aren't pro Trump

Not wanting to buy into Trump's treasonous behavior, does not mean they stopped being right of center. The GOP will need to deal with its own insanity.

That’s (already) how they won the election
GERRI · 51-55, F
@Adogslife And you think it will be the Maxine Waters and the Joe Bidens that "smarten up?" You've been convinced the "far-right" which you can't accurately identify is running amok. If you are tired of capitalism, liberty, individuality, and the Constitution, and think them a threat to your way of life-- then I guess you do see the "far-right" as the boogieman... You are supporting Marxism and if you would take the time to really listen to their ideas, you would see it. Social Justice= Marxism.

@Adogslife It is Marxism and what is this "democracy" push?--- I know you are old enough to have been taught we are not a democracy. Sorry, no offense, I didn't read any further than that.
Thank you.
Sounds like what happened with the election already. They may not have been "absorbed" into the Democratic Party, but they did distance themselves from Trumpism's corrupt xenophobic anti factual populism, and they haven't taken back the Republican brand yet.

I actually think there's a place for a real conservative leaning party in this country, but if it can't happen with Trumpists still running amok, real conservatives will probably find the DNC big tent more hospitable then trying to coexist with the Trump cult, and we'd all be better off, imo.
Moderate Republicans have been abandoning the party in droves. No sane person wants to even be associated with the nut jobs who support Trump.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
Trump's now irrelevant to everyone except the criminal justice system!
GERRI · 51-55, F
You mean having a single political party---
GERRI · 51-55, F
@plungesponge Name these "billionaire friends"
plungesponge · 41-45, M
@GERRI Betsy DeVos
Carl Icahn
Wilbur Ross
Steven Mnuchin
GERRI · 51-55, F
@plungesponge They all earned their wealth before government positions and completely qualified in their fields... Did you have problems with Buffett, Google's CEO, and Gates all having roles on Obama's 'advisory committees? I didn't--- Or Hillary and John Kerry's positions? Don't be a hypocrite, even though you can't help yourself. Your side of the aisle is the filthiest richest group in Government,, and they all made their wealth AFTER becoming public servants.--- And you know it.
NoahB · 26-30, M
this only works under the presumption that the republican base isn't almost entirely protrump. (it is, his voter base expanded in 2020)
AlienZipper · 61-69, M
I wouldn't trust an offer like that from the Democrat leadership at this point.
Human1000 · M
The Dems have a leftism problem; moderate Republicans can only go so far.
