Anyone from the 1950s alive ?

Yes, and thank you so much for asking. And I was born in 1951! I oughta be in Guinness Book of Records!

@Mamapolo2016 you're a baby really
@HannahSky One of the few reasons I object to dying eventually is that I would love to check in on folks like this in forty years.

You know the oldest people born in the 50s are only 70, right?

I was born in 1950 and also remember paying more for a new car than my parents paid for their house. I can remember being sent to the store with a dollar bill to get milk and bread. And I also remember my father saying that he worried about making house payments also.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@independentone I’d buy milk and bread plus have enough left over for a treat as a reward. And give my mom change,
@SageWanderer It was a good time to be a kid wasn't it?
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@independentone Yes it was because we didn’t have much but didn’t miss it.

People used to pay 100- for a mortgage and weren't sure they could make the payment.. Nothing has changed really.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@HannahSky That is very true. My parents bought their home in 1951 and my father told me he had sleepless nights worrying about the $92 payment. They paid 10,500 for the house.

That same house, in Connecticut, is worth about 400k now.
HannahSky · F
@eli1601 yeah, my aunt told me this too, she kind of laughs now, but it was a real worry.. no telling how much that house is worth now.
@eli1601 My parents bought their house in SoCal in 1950, 3 bedroom for around 10k. payments using the GI bill and Cal Vet were 75 a month. That same house sold last year for 1.4 mil, and the guy tore most of it down to add a 2nd story.
