A prime killer of people who are [i]young and in good health[/i] is death by accidents, often in traffic, and whether or not they survive has a bit to do with getting to the right trauma center in the "golden hour".

People need medical insurance even if they are NOT sick, because they can GET sick/maimed/etc., in the blink of an eye. Like having life insurance not because you *are* dead but bc you *could* be killed (e.g., in a traffic accident...).

Do you believe in being self-reliant, rather than ordering things in your life such that your choices force you to beg, be on welfare, etc.?

If you have NO medical insurance, then, when something happens and you use the ER as your medicine cabinet, primary doctor, etc., [b]you are begging from everyone and asking eveyone else to pull your weight.[/b]

Do you think that is right?

@SomeMichGuy I’ll respond in a bit in more detail. But while I see your point, I mostly disagree.

@SomeMichGuy so I have insurance because I have a good job and can afford it. But others simply cannot afford it. We can agree to disagree, but that’s just my take. I don’t think we should require people to purchase a service, whether they want it or not, or pay a penalty.
