Why would that upset anyone? They might just think you’re outta your mind but I doubt they will be upset.

I think it you have a duty to change their minds if you’re a believer of everything Trump. No?
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie I’m not a believer in everything he does, but I do think he’s a good president
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lindaisfun Lotsa people believe he is. Would you care to share a few reasons why you think he is?
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie he’s strong pro life, He’s pro Israel, he got rid of the Obamacare mandate, he’s grown the economy to huge numbers. Just a few reasons.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lindaisfun I don’t know why he being pro Israel is even important. He seems to be pro Kim Jong Un too. So...

What is this Obamacare Mandate he got rid of? I know nothing about that but it sounds interesting.

I guess the economy is at an all time high. I know he Tweeted lotsa people has gotten huge raises and bonuses because of him. I’m happy people are prospering.

@SimplyTracie The mandate was the provision that everyone had to get health insurance or pay a small fine (if you are too poor to afford health insurance, there were provisions to help).

It was part of what makes the math work for things like getting rid of preexisting conditions discrimination, lifetime maximums, etc - making sure the young and the healthy don't take the gamble of trying to get by without insurance.

Getting rid of it was fucking stupid tbh, but whatever 🤷‍♂️

@QuixoticSoul Ahhhh I see. There is no penalty for those who don’t want insurance. I hope not but hat happens if they get really sick? Like cancer or something like that? I guess the government will provide them a short rope.
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie Trump got rid of the penalty.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie They'll get their healthcare in the ER in the most expensive inefficient way possible, and the rest of us will pay for that too.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lindaisfun No penalty for choosing not to have medical insurance? Why would anyone not want medical insurance?
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie some people can’t afford it
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Lindaisfun Most of those that cannot afford it are eligible for various subsidies. If too many fall through the cracks, the subsidies should be expanded. Not having the mandate just screws everyone instead, and that's not a rational solution for the situation.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@Lindaisfun Well it’s expensive for a lot of people. I guess we just gotta wait for Trump to Repeal and Replace Obamacare. He said it was gonna be better and cheaper. But we will have to wait a little longer.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie 😂😂😂
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@QuixoticSoul Even with the subsidies, some can’t afford it. The cutoff is very low. Most of my friends struggle just to make it. They’re young and in good health. If they choose not to take on that extra expense, it’s should be up to them.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Lindaisfun The answer here is bumping up subsidies, not having millions of uninsured. In the end, when one of them breaks a leg or whatever, the cost ends up being passed back to us anyway, and that's not fair either.

Now if we let them bleed out on ER's threshold, maybe it would be fair. But few want to live in a world like that either.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@QuixoticSoul What’s so funny? 😂😂😂
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@QuixoticSoul lol. Well I guess I was right. This did get people ticked. You’re trying to kill my friends now. Lol.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@SimplyTracie The idea of the current crop of GOP coming out with anything cheaper and better.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Lindaisfun Nah, I'd rather they just get health insurance. It's better for everyone involved that way. Plus, it's a terrifically stupid gamble, even for the young and invincible. Shit happens.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@QuixoticSoul
What do you think @Lindaisfun? Can Trump Replace Obamacare with something better and cheaper as promised? So your friends don’t have to go without.
Lindaisfun · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie lol. You two are too much. But the answer is probably no. The house would never work with Trump to get anything passed.

@Lindaisfun I think it was just political rhetoric that lotsa people believed he could do it. Like one of my grandmas. I told her Trump won’t get big pharma to lower prescription drugs or to fix Obamacare. She was fooled. Oh well.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Lindaisfun It would help if there were some even remotely sensible proposals coming from the republican side. All indications are, they just want to take us back to the nonsense we barely escaped.
