Umm, you're audience needs a history refresher..... it was a white Republican Party under Lincoln who supported the abolitionist movement. The party transformed into it's present elitist incarnation following the racist Woodrow Wilson administration (Republican to the core). Some say it was during Teddy Roosevelt's term because he was an imperialist, but I disagree. He was a Progressive.
Historically, both political parties can be accused of legislating tyrannical laws or policies. In sum, it's not the party, although it's a useful banner, it resides in the native biases of people and the politicians who manipulate them. It changes constantly over time.

Yes, I tried to imply the party transformations in my last post but PinkEye would have none of it. To him it is a binary issue. All Dems bad; all Reps good. The complexity of history, never mind the complexity of human beings or their contrariness, appears not to have percolated into his consciousness.

Because some republicans do stupid things. For example There was that situation going on in Flint Michigan. Rick Snyder (Republican) poisoned Flint’s water supply making everyone in that area sick. A majority of Flint’s residence are Black Americans.
