When will Trump finally cave in and re open the government?

easterniowegin · 51-55, M
Couldn't Pelosi just pass a bill with wall money in it and get the government opened immediately??
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@softspokenman i dont specifically disagree...that would be best. But as i read that article, i began to see how nearly impossible it is to have attrition. There are laws that dont allow government to remove poor performance. They cant fire someone, and who in their right mind would quit such a cushy job?!
This is almost the only remedy and is most certainly the quickest. At least they have added more than a million jobs in the last couple years to the US market...to help them all transition into the private sector.
@easterniowegin Obviously they aren't playing checkers anymore, they have drawn their line in the sand, so to speak, and the number of people backing them up, some GOP's, is rising almost daily. The GOP's do want to keep their jobs after he is gone.
@easterniowegin I don't know, does anyone ?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I suspect when somebody takes him to court for refusing to do so.
I don't think Rep.s and Dem.s or our military will allow that to happen but keep hope alive just incase. 🤞 fingers crossed too. @daisymay
daisymay · 51-55, T
@softspokenman I'm interested in how you think they can stop it, and that Republicans would move to stop it anyway? They've done less than nothing so far.

He does directly command the military. It would be easy to manufacture yet another crisis, but one with a false flag element so he can go "SEE?!" and enact the plan.

This is not some "can't ever happen" fantasy. It can totally happen, and is probably easier now than ever.

Im not sure he will. He has to prove to his base that he's all in. It has nothing to do with security as he is jeopardizing that same security by continuing the shutdown.
Imo he feels he needs reelection. His office is buffering him from legal issues. If he caves on the wall, he likely loses confidence from his base. If nothing else, he is keeping eyes off all the investigations aimed directly at him....
@Carla His base aren't the majority.
Carla · 61-69, F
@softspokenman i know that. And, you know that. Sooo many people do not. Or, if they do, the refuse to admit it.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
The day after the Wall no longer proves useful to him as a distraction. So we are looking at Mueller and similar investigations to unlock this. Since that is what brought it on.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
I don't think that he ever will do it - until he gets his will or until his presidency is over.
luv2fly352 · 70-79, M
Mr. Trump has always employed and epitomized a quintessential NY,tough guy,hard hitting,street brawling,no nonsense,business leader who does not like his authority as President to be challenged.His mantra is "I'm the boss,i make the decisions!

@luv2fly352 Reminds me of kids fighting over who can play as the leader

Is he still here ? Lol
He's probably waiting to make the crisis he created bigger, at this point, before he can spin his stepping in to solve it as a win.
SW-User
@MistyCee I hope that doesn't happen where he makes things worse, but it could and that's not good.
@SW-User the longer it lasts, the worse its going to get, with people not getting paid, and not essential services not being provided. It's going to get worse, and I think he's going to need to spin whatever move he might make to reopen the government "on his terms", whatever those may end up being.

I hate to bring it up again, but Trump is likely going to need a better Reichstag like moment than just Immigration to shut down the House.

Here's an interesting read...fake or not:

when he gets his wall.
SW-User
@akindheart Funny how you think a border wall would prohibit people from by bypassing it when there are such things called planes, boats and visas that people can use to get to the United States.

It’s silly to also think the wall will be completed when it might be discontinued after a few decades because of the cost or when another president decides to end it because it’s unnecessary and costly.

But no, lets use fear, scapegoating and xenophobia to ruin a country’s economy and forcefully take land away from Americans to get what we want.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SW-User oh brother. stop with the rhetoric. we need the wall, i am NOT paying for illegals to support. and i hope the president builds it where we need it. 14000 illegals in a caravan??? come on. if the wall stops a portion of it, that is success. i am sure you are not affected by the illegals but where i live, i am. enough said.

@akindheart

And what do these migrants do, speak Spanish around you? Did they take yer job?

All it is, is a racial tone against migrants with a darker skin tone. Because there are other illegal immigrants in this country from other parts of the world that no one talks about.

When will pelosi finally give in and open the government?
SW-User
@sunsporter1649 That's McConnel's or Trump's Job.

when america is safe again
SW-User
@Loretta78 That and plus if he declares an emergency, he puts more Americans at risk to get his wall built. Since he would be able to seize their property if it came to that.
daisymay · 51-55, T
@SW-User I cannot WAIT for him to seize Texas cattle ranching land. It is going to be awesome!
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@SW-User Yep. Exactly. 😐️

@eli1601 Trump's statement that he would gladly shutdown the government on national television will always be used against him. That nation heard Trump say this, so everyone will know who to blame.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@SW-User He will convince everyone that that the crisis on the border gave him no choice.
He also said that many of the 800,000 are Dem's trying coerce Chunk and Nancy to feel guilty. That was also on national TV broadcasts.
