Has the ACLU become a tool of the radical left?

The ACLU and one other organization in San Francisco have petitioned federal Judge Jon S. Tigar for a restraining order against President Trumps order to deny asylum to anyone not entering the United States at a legal point of entry. This will delay the implementation of Trumps order for at least one month.

Any caravan member who decides to rush the border illegally is now free and clear thanks to the ACLU.

They are a disgusting organization, a radical leftist mob which gives lawyers a bad name. Selective law and selective justice is what they are all about.

Until people realize that America is under attack and that it has been infiltrated from within by the radical left in all facets of society, we are doomed.

The Fisa documents need to be released and then we can start fumigating these leftists from our nation and our government.

The left is playing the long game, an attempted take over of the USA. Sixty plus years of a slow decay and a destruction of the American way of life by thug leftists who hide behind veils, they have "accomplished" a lot in destroying America. Wake up or become consumed by these vile leftists.
Read and pass on Rogue Spooks by Dick Morris. Seems you've touched on many things he writes about in this book.@therighttothink50
I hate how these rabid idiots are freeing murderers and getting people killed. Sanctuary cities need to be abolished. The ninth district needs to be abolished. Enforced stupidity through legislation needs to be stopped immediately. I wish the democrat party would come to it's senses. They are beyond ridiculous, and people are dying at the hands of bloodthirsty monsters because of THEIR policies.

@puck61 There is an argument, thin but valid, that according to the constitution any foreign national can seek asylum if they can prove credible fear. Unfortunately, the Constitution does NOT say that they must enter the country in a certain place (such as legal points of entry), nor does it say that asylum is voided if they do NOT enter at a legal point of entry. We need to fix that.
@4meAndyou Damm! I wish I could stop hating democrats so much....they just suck so very very very badly! I don't like hating people but democrats force me to hate them by virtue of their existence. Back to these democrat voters in Tijuana........ if they 'are' people with credible fear, then we might as well let every SHITHOLE country on earth send all its people here,

@puck61 Now, now. I know you don't hate democrats, because I used to be one...and you like me just a smidge. I have had a come to Jesus moment, but not everyone can overcome the bullying and their own background through carefully considered thought. Some people are like nasty little mean girls in high school, and all they can do (mentally and verbally) is call out insults.

If I could guess, I think what you hate are not the moderate democrats (the party of the past) but the left wing radical socialist democrats who have emerged as unthinking parrots of insulting talking points they have heard their bullying friends repeat from the talking point they have heard from the radical left wing media.

We all deplore the future we can foresee if the radicals are allowed to take over the Democrat Party. None of us want to live in an unsafe, poverty stricken, crumbling country while we still remember that once we were great...but the left wing radicals are driving far too many people into that future.

That is why they are supported by money from Communists and those countries who want our destruction so that they can become "US". The cherry at the top of the tree, that they all want, is the prosperity we now enjoy, but they can't acheive that if we are functioning as we used to function.

We have seen this before. The anti-Vietnam protests of the '70's were supported and funded by the Communists. Drug use, free love, atheism, and taking society apart at the seams through devaluing family values were seen as keys to our destruction.

Just as the caravan people do now, our own laws and our own constitution were used to cause chaos by those with a vested interest in taking over the world economy. Globalism promoted for the benefit of regimes who would not, in the end, share the wealth.

Division such as we now do NOT enjoy is part of that equation, "United we stand, divided we fall".

The caravan is a result of the Democrat radicals refusal to enforce the law, and we all know why they followed that policy in the past. The drug trade is very wealthy and powerful, and the drug trade pays certain politicians in ways that are not immediately visible. The Democrats are able to talk themselves into selling out the rest of our citizens, because they believe (whether it is true or not) that if they allow illegals free reign their children will become grateful voting Democrats.

It has always been a tool of the radical left. It was founded by the radical left.
"The ACLU was founded in the 1920s by Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman, described as a “progressive” and “the perfect feminist.”. Earl Browder was general secretary of the Communist Party of the United States from 1930 through its dissolution in 1944."

@bowman81 However, they also USED to defend impartially. The KKK, Nazis, (obviously not of the left) have all been defended by them in the past. However, the ACLU has changed, and now defends radical leftist causes almost exclusively. The balance has been lost. There was a change in leadership in 2004, and I believe the leftist change occurred then.

@4meAndyou It has always been selective in which rights it would defend...2nd amendment issues have always been off limits to them. Only those area that applied to their interests were defended.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@bowman81 Actually, only those interests that would line their pockets.

The left is wasting their time and money. The supreme court will continue to overrule these half wit judges who rule on00 ideology rather than the constitution.

Liberals point out that “Trump isn’t president of the world” and then they complain that he’s not taking care of Mexican citizens.
The 9th circuit should be abolished. They are nothing but default promoters of stupidity.
akindheart · 61-69, F
wow...that is all i can say. they thwart him every step they can.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Since they;ve been know to defend the rights of Nazis and other hatemongers and bigots, I'd say "no". But they have gotten a lot of attacks from the Left for some of the people they have defended.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@4meAndyou No idea, really. Thing is, it's USUALLY the Right who are trying to curtail our freedoms, so I'd guess they most often support suits by causes on the Left. But historically they'll defend anyone whose rights have been curtailed.
4meAndyou · F
@ChipmunkErnie Supposed to.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ChipmunkErnie LOL, I have a bridge I want to sell you.
Just my opinion, but I've heard better criticism of the ACLU for not protecting conservative civil liberties with cases which seem more valid than for taking up this one.

This seems right up their alley, and consistent with their mission.

They do some good work, but, need to be consistent.

@4meAndyou Here and there on a local level they have done some good work, providing free legal aid. But, overall, they are not what they used to be. One can argue that they have become too politicized.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou I saw that. I read Reason.

@Stereoguy The ACLU used to be champions of the first amendment. From 2004 on, their leadership changed, and they now lean more and more toward support of non-Americans. I would say that they still think they are defending the constitution, as they used to, however, if they do so to the detriment of our own citizens and create situations that will endanger us, and threaten the thousands of homeless in California due to evacution center and shelter overload, then they definitely need a new leader.
