Summit: What actually happened, if not what was promised?

Okay people, the US/NK 'summit' is all done and dusted...Here's the take from pretty much everyone who is looking in, and what was none negotiable before it:

They both have basked in the coverage and if that was the desired outcome, it's worked. The rest is very broad strokes of the brush with no 'deal'. Past presidents have refused to meet the NKs and negotiate any withdrawal from SK unless NK eliminates its nuclear weapons. It seemed before Trump went to Singapore that that too was the deal breaker; NK absolutely must get rid of its nuclear weapons, and have it overseen now and in the future..

That isn't what has happened. Instead the fat kid has said he wants to see work towards the entire peninsula de-nuclearised, and (and this is the bit lost in the small print). Withdrawal of the US from SK..

Trump has announced he'll stop US military exercises with SK (Pre condition from the fat kid), but hasn't demanded NK get rid of its nuclear weapons (Pre condition from Trump) and the fat kid hasn't offered to do so.

Trump got played, but all his supporters will hear is what a great success it was. We gave up our preconditions, and all we got in return was a broad promise to denuclearize (definition not known) at some distant and unknown point in the future.

Denuclearization wouldn't happen overnight no matter who made that type of agreement.
This is a first step..
War games are not essential and they can be resumed at any time.
The 28 thousand U.S. troops stationed in South Korea equal less than 5 percent of South Korean military strength...
Even if they're withdrawn, Guam is only hours away with the ability to unleash devastating bombings with our B52s and stealth bombers stationed there..

There have been important firsts here with Kim's visit to the South, something no north Korean leader has done since the armistice...
I would like to see a peace treaty signed with the South.
Along with verifiable dismantling of ICBM capabilities as a first move foward..

I'm hoping this is real but so far there's very little concrete planning to be seen..
As i said, this is a first step, it's happened before, let's see where it goes this time..

@TheeOriginalEXLover You're right...You did post a bogus allegation. And you saying you don't care is disingenuous BS, you cared enough to make your boy appear good and less profligate with his use of AF1.
Never surrender? Get over yourself.

So, in other words Trump has mostly caved in to NK demands? It seems he has made a much worse deal with NK than the deal he refused to honour with Iran (refused on the basis he thought it was a bad deal).
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@SW-User I don't know where your information about funding terrorists comes from.

The agreement was preventing Iran from making nuclear weapons and giving NATO the right to check compliance. I'm sure the other countries involved in the deal will keep it up and save the day but it's a serious mark against Trump in my book.

@fazer1k The sponsor of terrorism thing came from the U.S. state department analysis. Going back more than twenty years to the present time..
As detailed Under the administration's of Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump..

@SW-User The appropriate leaders all agreed the deal was working as planned until Trump became involved. He's a loose canon and that is dangerous.

Let's hope the deal with NK works as planned.

Nothing happened. It was a photo opp for both of them. Kim goes back, tells his people what they want to hear, retains control over his nuclear program, with no security or inspections, and since nothing was brought up about human rights issues, he can continue to starve and kill his people.
It was BLATANTLY clear from the outset that Trump was getting played. He thinks the world will buy in to his hollow hyperbole. They don't. There really are smart people in the world who see this for what it was.

@windinhishair I took a dive in to some of the extremist sites out there and they LITERALLY took it to mean that Trump saved the world. There's no arguing with that mentality. They're living in a world that's all their own.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Yes, they are. Amazing, isn't it?
Ynotisay · M
@windinhishair "Amazing" is one word for it.
I'm no fan of Trump and doubt anything substantively good will come out of this, but I have to say, it was kind of nice to hear Trump say he might be wrong, even if he wouldn't admit it and would probably make up an excuse.

Its actually kind of nice to see some self awareness peek through sometimes.

I cannot see a fair deal unless all foreign armies leave Korea and the whole peninsula is de-nuclearised.

@waleskinder It's rather scary I think...

Two questions and a scenario:

Has the fat kid agreed to having all his nuclear weapon R & D and the hardware removed and overseen? ...(A pre-condition of the 'summit' from the US point of view) Nope.

Has Trump agreed to ending military exercises with SK...(pre-condition demanded by the fat kid)...Yep, Trump has announced that's what he'll do.

The fat kid didn't even have to try, jeeze he must be wetting himself laughing. "And all I had to say was we'll aspire to getting rid of nukes with no agreement we'd do it, then he said okay, we'll stop playing war games with the south...I couldn't believe it!!! Fuck, I know they said he wasn't bright, but until I met him I didn't realise how fucking stupid he is!"

It's already over? What even happened? Looks like a win for China.
@Xuan12 Took some photos with his soulmate and then he had to get down to threatening allies.

All in a day's work.
