Do you think there will be some kind of gun control or will it just stay the same and a lot of people will get shot still?

I'm afraid Pandora's box is open on that one. Gun ownership is so deeply ingrained in American culture, it would take a combined military and police effort of unprecedented intensity to make the US equal to Australia or England in that department. Too many gangs. Too many criminals. Mexico right next door. There will be token gun control measures, but they won't make any significant difference because guns are not the real problem . Hard hearts, troubled minds, and greed are the problem. The appetite for money and drugs is the problem. A sickening trend in society is the problem. The cartels in Mexico would exploit any significant drop in the gun ownership statistics in the US and gun running would be right up there with drug running. The harsh reality is that things need to stay the same as far as the second amendment is concerned, there needs to be a change in the hearts and minds of people in the United States. That's the only thing that will ever significantly reduce gun violence in the wild wild west. When I was in high school, we had gun safety courses every time deer season rolled around and most of the senior males had pick up trucks parked in the lot with full gun racks and lots of ammo. You never heard about school shooting then. Nationally, I'm sure they happened , but they were so rare, that the subject never came up.

@puck61 What does that mean, in this context?
@QuixoticSoul They turned incarceration into a commercial industry, so it pays to have lots of laws and lots of people to break them, so I wouldn't be the least surprised if they don't have their fingers in the gun running pie too.
At least Trump is more honest and is trying proactively to build an impenetrable wall, reform immigration, and rid the country of gangs. If gang violence and street violence was stopped , gun deaths would be reduced significantly. For some reason, I'm reminded of the old children's song, "The Farmer in the Dell" Money,Jails, drugs, gangs, guns, politicians, people instead of "farmers", "wives" , "children", "nurses", "dogs" , "cats" , Mice" etc ......

What sort of laws are you talking about? If you look at state prisons, more than half of all prisoners are there for violent crimes. Obviously, we need laws covering that to be a civilized country. 15% are in there for drugs - we can probably become more tolerant there, perhaps. What laws do you want to relax that will reduce our prison population?

I'm not against improving border security, but I don't particularly see it making a dent in our gang situation. Our gangs are mostly filled with natives and citizens anyway. Yes - even MS13. The gang situation is intimately connected with the economics of the drug trade, and those profit margins are an irresistible force of nature. They can only be tackled on the demand side.
Gun control has nothing to do with safety..
be careful what you wish for. Our government don’t even listen to the citizens anymore. And we are trapped in a 2 party dictatorship..🇦🇺
Gun control addresses the technique used in murder. If gun control was accelerated, the crackpots would just find another accessible technique. We have gun control in France, rigid gun control, but it has never stopped the slaughters - particularly, heree in Paris.

there are millions of guns around, how do you control whats already done?
patkaren1717 · 36-40, M
@meJess Just like welfare for the lazy.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@meJess The typical method is to buy them back at a fair price.

Until somebody like the UN points out that 'allowing' your own kids to be shot in school is probably not a good thing, nobody will take any notice and we await the next one
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@patkaren1717 No other country on earth tolerates the regular killing of it's children like America.
And Americans never get it.
patkaren1717 · 36-40, M
@Picklebobble2 america was founded on violence. and it will go on.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@patkaren1717 Well if that's the attitude of a nation, it never will that's for sure.

Gun control for small state it's a waste it resources.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Dayeshadow The wide variability of gun regulations between different states is already commonly exploited by criminals. A small state with no gun control, greatly undermines usefulness of measures in others near and far.

Kind of like medicinal weed - except that they used that principle to keep selling it at black market prices.
