Do you ever drive and then all of a sudden think oh wait, how did I get here?

Like you zoned out, just went through the motions?

I used to do that a lot when I commuted to work. I’d be lost in thought or talking to somebody and suddenly be pulling into work.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@11509,Keepitsimple] yep that happened to me today, was just driving to get some breakfast though. Was listening to music and then just all of a sudden I was at the restaurant. It was weird
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
[@348601,Bubbles] Winding up at a restaurant is better than work 🤗
Rooster · M
Only when I'm really stoned....man.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@527571,Rooster] haha well this happened to me today and I was not under the influence
Rooster · M
[@348601,Bubbles] Oh well, chit happens.😆

There are some places I can drive to without thinking

If I have a lot on my mind, my brain goes on autopilot
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@339269,JimboSaturn] yeah it really does!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
[@348601,Bubbles] But when a person cuts you off or traffic comes to an abrupt halt, you seem to snap out of it and put on your brakes, it's wierd.
Elegy · 41-45
Yep... when my mind is elsewhere.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@4300,Elegy] so I'm not going crazy! lol
Elegy · 41-45
[@348601,Bubbles] Nope but you mice want to go home and think about where your mined is going. :)
Byron8by7 · M
Yes, sometimes when driving on a road trip, on the Interstate highway. Not when driving locally, however.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@4152,Byron8by7] happened to me today when driving locally, felt very weird!
Byron8by7 · M
[@348601,Bubbles] I live in a major metropolitan area, and I have to be careful with all of the traffic lights.
Coppercoil · M
This is my life.. like how I feel about how I got to where I am in life. Just wonder how I managed to get myself here.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@58876,Coppercoil] haha ok that is deep
Tracos · 51-55, M
too often.... and then I really have to think back to check if I honored all the traffic lights
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@581975,Tracos] yeah that happened this morning, and I was like, wow was I completely unaware of my surroundings or what!?
4meAndyou · F
That used to happen sometimes. I would drive right past my exit.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@387713,4meAndyou] haha, that has also happened to me too!
4meAndyou · F
[@348601,Bubbles] It was like...which JOB am I driving to? Oh! Not the old job in Quincy!!🤣🤣🤣
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@387713,4meAndyou] 🤣
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
All the time. Especially on my journey to work. Just shows your the power of your sub-conscience mind. Driving becomes so routine it bypassed your conscience mind.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@339269,JimboSaturn] so true, it's like I can do it without even thinking about it. It's a weird concept
TimingQuasars · 22-25, M

And im a very good driver i always am aware as if the car is only an extension of me i have never been in a car accident my reaction time i tell yah... Is like crazy i prevented a car accident one time because a dum lady crossed with her car at the wrong time she was lucky im fast and always have my eyes on the road
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@376270,TimingQuasars] wonderful!
TimingQuasars · 22-25, M
[@348601,Bubbles] Thanks! I could drive you around i could prbably be a good race car driver rn.. I would just practice the roads haha im very aware in those kinds of activitys
Grateful4you · 61-69, M
Yes, it's like an altered state and a little bewildering at first. After years of long distance driving you tend to get used to it.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@881002,Grateful4you] yes it is a very strange feeling
jackson55 · M
Driving long distances and listening to music I’ve zoned out and missed the last 20 miles.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@15676,jackson55] haha yep, it is so weird that our brain can do that
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Yeah and it scared the shit out of me
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@6578,HoraceGreenley] haha yep same here
Degbeme · 61-69, M

Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@763897,Harriet03] haha that's great
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
[@348601,Bubbles] ✌🍷
Poppies · 61-69, F
Thinking "how did I get here" after arriving at the destination is a lot better than "where am I going" while still driving!
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@557324,Poppies] haha, these are wise words!
coolashton · 22-25, M
I don't have a license to drive.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@2489,coolashton] oh well dang!
Oneofthestormboys · 51-55, M
Yes indeed. It’s pretty therapeutic for me, and I don’t mind it at all 😃
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@477979,Oneofthestormboys] it freaks me out!
froggtongue · 36-40, M
Your brain probably thought the trip was so boring, it purposefully forgot it.
Bubbles · 31-35, F
[@7558,froggtongue] sounds about right
