Is There A Noisier Insect Than Cicadas?

Then make so much noise all summer long. Thank God for the Mississippi kites that come here in the spring and hunt the cicadas and eat them. They are easy for the birds to hunt as their loud buzzing leads them right to them. It’s amusing to hear cicadas buzzing loudly as the kites are flying off with them in their mouths.

Don't know about insect noises...although I do remember the cicadas in the summer...but those little tree frogs make an immense amount of noise at night.

@4meAndyou they do. I lived in a heavily wooded area about 6 miles from here and at night when you drive through the area you can hear them near and far, it’s actually a nostalgic noise for me. One night when I was a teen I couldn’t sleep because there was a tree frog outside. I opened the front door and found one on the glass storm door, had to peel it’s suction-cup toes off the door and take him out to the lawn and release him.

Yep, a Scouser when his team loses.

@Nimbus heard that’s one of the traits of Scousers.

I rather enjoy them. Was my favorite part of the mid west. They are really loud though, and look terrifying. Each place they sound different.
Katydids get pretty loud too.

We have Cicada Killers here in NJ. They're pretty badass.
AbbeyRhode · F
@uncalled4 OMG, I can't stand those things, they're huge! 😱
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@AbbeyRhode I know. They don't particularly care about humans, but boy are they scary looking!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@uncalled4 I’ve picked them up with my hands, the worst they do it buzz loudly.

Them termites crunching in my walls keeps me up at night. 😉

@Azlotto a squirrel in the wall is quite noisy, tries to dig it’s way out, gets tired after about 10 minutes and barks like a little chihuahua out of frustration....rests about 15 minutes and starts back up. Heard it for a day and night and the next day he worked his way through the walls through an opening where the water heater closet is and out into the garage. When I heard things being knocked over to the floor in the garage I knew he had escaped the walls.
