Is There A Noisier Insect Than Cicadas?

Then make so much noise all summer long. Thank God for the Mississippi kites that come here in the spring and hunt the cicadas and eat them. They are easy for the birds to hunt as their loud buzzing leads them right to them. It’s amusing to hear cicadas buzzing loudly as the kites are flying off with them in their mouths.

We have Cicada Killers here in NJ. They're pretty badass.

@uncalled4 I haven’t seen those, I think they live in the eastern USA. I didn’t use to see the Mississippi kites but they’ve immigrated here for the summers now and although they are loud they are very useful here. They raise their babies and fly back south in the winter and seems like we get more coming back every year. They roost in some tall trees east of the neighborhood I live in.

@AbbeyRhode I know. They don't particularly care about humans, but boy are they scary looking!

@uncalled4 I’ve picked them up with my hands, the worst they do it buzz loudly.
