I Avoid Talking Politics

Although I generally vote Democrat, I don't like discussing politics. Today I was asked if Trump were the Democratic nominee, would I vote for him. Hell no!!! How did we ever get to a place in American politics where human beings are seriously discussing Donald Trump as presidential?
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@TallJames – You’re welcome. Thanks for the compliment.

I don’t think what you’re talking about meets the legal definition of money laundering, even if the Sanders campaign characterizes it that way, but it is an example of the sort of thing I dislike about Hillary Clinton. There’s no way I’m going to defend it or make excuses for it.

People don’t drive cars for a variety of reasons. My mother hasn’t driven for years and relies on public transportation or getting rides from people who do drive. Not driving doesn’t automatically mean someone is completely out of touch with how most people live, but if it did, Donald Trump certainly would be out of touch as he doesn’t drive very often and usually flies or has a chauffeur drive him wherever he needs to go. Also, look at some of the cars he has owned: 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren; '50s Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud; Rolls-Royce Phantom; 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT. Using your logic, there’s no way he could relate to someone who drives a 1996 Toyota Corolla or can’t afford a car at all and takes a bus everywhere.

Husband Bill’s womanizing is well known, but his association with Jeffrey Epstein doesn’t prove he’s a pedophile. Why Hillary stayed with Bill is really her business, but many other people have stayed with their cheating spouse and it’s their right to do so. It’s not a reflection on how committed she may be to women’s rights. In any case, it’s grossly unfair to hold Hillary accountable for Bill’s behavior, especially considering that she was a victim of it.

As far as the email scandal goes, my understanding is that she broke the rules, but didn’t break the law. Trump, on the other hand, has engaged in fraud. Neither one of these candidates is exactly a paragon of virtue.

I’m starting to get tired of this topic and I’m not really interested in discussing it much further. Let me sum things up by saying I dislike Hillary, but not nearly as much as I dislike Trump. Because of that, I’ll vote to keep DT out of the White House by voting for HC in November.

ItsComplicated, I hate to say it because I'm a proud American whose roots in this country go back to the 17th century, but today’s America is full of ignorant and bigoted people who have an insatiable need to be entertained. The buffoonish, mean-spirited Trump fills that need.

I should add that I happen to be a Sanders supporter, so I am disappointed that Hillary will be the Democratic nominee, but I absolutely will support her over Donald Trump in the general election. At least she’s qualified to hold the office she's seeking, unlike the bloviating reality TV show star.
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@TallJames - First of all, please note that I said I support Sanders and am disappointed that Hillary is the nominee. I have my own criticisms of her and won’t stick my neck out defending her. That said, she isn’t the one who has cheated ordinary people out of thousands dollars through fraud, nor is she woefully ignorant on virtually every political issue you care to name. The fact that she doesn’t drive a car (assuming that’s even true) is irrelevant. And what is this business about her laundering money? Where’s the evidence for that? What Bill does or has done is also irrelevant. She’s the one running for president this year, not him. I also wouldn’t casually dismiss the fact that she’s held the positions of U.S. Senator and Secretary of State. It means that she at least has some familiarity with how government works. I see zero evidence that the totally inexperienced Trump has the slightest clue about that.

Here’s a partial list of her accomplishments:

Successfully sought to increase research funding for prostate cancer and childhood asthma at the National Institutes of Health

Created the Office on Violence Against Women at the Department of Justice.

Helped create the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which cut the uninsured rate of American children by half.

Worked with members of both parties to provide full military health benefits to reservists and National Guard members.

Worked to expand the Family Medical Leave Act, allowing the families of those wounded in military service to take leave in order to care for their loved ones.

Initiated the Adoption and Safe Families Act.

Helped create Vital Voices, an international initiative to promote the participation of women in the political processes of their countries.

Helped secure $21 billion in funding for the World Trade Center site's redevelopment.

@rutterman
Wow you are the first person out of many that has ever named true accomplishments. I am impressed. Thanks for the information and keeping it classy. Unlike someone resorting to personal attacks and calling al trump supporters white supremacists. That would be just like me saying all Clinton supporters are feminists and you don't have to be female to be a feminist. Just dumb. SMH

Let me start with the money laundering. Just type in Clinton money laundering in Google. Insincere you support Bernie I even got a source from his personal website. These are evil evil people.

https://berniesanders.com/press-release/politico-exposes-clinton-campaign-money-laundering-scheme/

The reason why the car matters is there is no way she could ever relate to common person. No way will she truly be for the people. She has no idea what we are going through. More government just equals a bigger divide between the middle class and the top 1% or even top 10%
What bill does does matter. Sticking with someone who is a known pedophile and woman abuser all the while she is saying she is for women's rights is the height of hypocrisy.
I will leave it at this I don't think emotions on both sides of the aisle have ever been this high simultaneously. I can't wait for the debates. I also hope that James Comey lets justice prevail and Hillary goes to jail for being reckless and precarious with her above top secret emails. I hope that Putin is bluffing and he does not really have all the emails he says he has. It was bad enough Bill sold missle secrets to the Chinese in his second term.

I changed my affilation from republican to independent,i'm sick all of it,so I don't like to to discuss politics,
TallJames · 46-50, M
@Broussard really a klansman that's what your going with. Have you ever been on air I have. Funny thing is when you have a speaker and microphone in your ear the producer can talk in your ear when ever they want. It is quite plain to see that is what happened. He adamantly disavowed David duke. Just because he duke likes trump does not mean trump likes or supports duke.
I am seeing this a lot lately pure ignorance. So trump supporters are White Supremacists? My roommate and best friend was black when I lived in Austin. Another good friend of mine is black. I have a good friend who is Italian and a good friend who is Mexican. In fact I have more non white friends than I have white friends. I have dated girls from practically every race. I am very very far from a White Supremacist.

The racist card is only used when someone has nothing intelligent to add to a conversation.

We stopped teaching critical thinking in schools the early 70's it is becoming more and more evident.
Well Talljames, I survived GWB for 8 years, you'll survive Clinton.
TallJames · 46-50, M
@rutterman
You make good and valid points unlike any liberal I have ever talked to. You kept things same and logical. Since you are tired of it, I won't bother refuting any of what you have stated, although I could most of it.

I am curious of the fraud you speak of with DT? Are you talking about Trump University?
Talljames, I'm with her!! All the way!!!
TallJames · 46-50, M
@Rutterman I always enjoy a good and lively debate as long as it has logical ideas and concepts. I want to learn and be educated as to why people believe and think the way they do. Not be called unjustified names and be attacked personally just for having a different opinion.
Perfectly stated, Rutterman. 🙂
ProfessorPlum · 70-79, M
I was an "NPA" for MANY years. I changed my affiliation to Republican so I could vote for Trump in the FL primary. I am TIRED of the GOP "brain trust" force feeding us the likes of Romney, McCain, George I and Dole.
TallJames · 46-50, M
@bijoux. A precedent was set with the clintons. They did things to the White House no one ever did before. Little known fact. Did you know on the way out they vandalized the White House for $ 147,000 in damages because they were stopped from stealing all the furniture and sending it to their home in New York. Not opinion fact. Very bad people.

Bill Clinton is a known Pedophile.

The Clinton foundation is a money laundering scheme that would make Bernie madoff proud.

I'd take Bernie over her any day. But never ever Clinton.

She needs to be going to the big house not the White House.
TallJames · 46-50, M
@rutterman what makes her qualified? She has never driven a car since the 80's, she laundered millions of dollars, she says she is for women's rights but she accepted money from countries who treat women like dirt, she helped out the laureate institute get government grants and finding while her husband bill was on the take for 16.5 million dollars. And please name an accomplishment of hers that has helped the American people. Holding an office is not an accomplishment that helps the American people.
ProfessorPlum · 70-79, M
If the idea of Trump running for president is ridiculous, the idea of Hilary running is ludicrous!
TallJames · 46-50, M
@Itscomplicated I am sure I will survive but will America? At some point we have to balance the budget and that is going to be impossible with government run health care.

My monthly premium went up from $225 to $375 a month my deductible from $2,000 to $8,000 and no I did not get to keep my doctor. Furthermore I have 6 vertebrae with micro fractures I am in need of surgery and in a lot of pain. Guess what my wonderful affordable health care act plan denied the surgery.
TallJames · 46-50, M
@itscomplicated did you even watch the video. If so quote something from it. I'm sure you did not because most people who are "with her all the way" are single issue voters and are voting for her because she will be the first woman president. I'm all for a woman president but not for someone who should be going to the big house not the White House.
TallJames · 46-50, M
I guess the same way we are discussing Hillary as President. At least trump is not a bonafide criminal. She is downright evil and treats people like dirt. Don't believe me take it from the secret service who were bound to protect her as First Lady. Or don't and vote for the second worst presidential candidate in our history.

TallJames · 46-50, M
@It'scomplicated. GWB was not a good president. He gave us a lot of debt and an overreaching and horrible department of homeland security, TSA is part of that. There is no reason the lines should be as long as they are at the airports. Just another example of the ineffectiveness of our government at work.
I can't imagine Trump as a Democrat saying the type of things he's saying in 2016. Many of the Southern "Dixiecrats" were racists, like Trump is now.
bellybuttonfan17 · 36-40, M
Can't agree with you enough. So many people say Hillary is not worth voting for either. Perhaps... But my point is this:
ANYONE BUT TRUMP.
I don't want to die because that idiot started world war 3 (n he will).
Rutterman · 46-50, M
@TallJames - Thanks for a lively and interesting discussion and for agreeing to wind it down.

Yes, I'm talking about Trump University.
Talljames I would accept the word of the secret service only if they hadn't been so neglectful of our current president and his family---starting with the one who made that "joke" about wanting to "accidentally shoot Michelle Obama in the head". I'm voting for Hillary in November, too.
Talljames: frankly, I don't believe you. And I voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary, so it has ZERO 👌🏽to do with Hillary being a woman. But there's no way I'm voting for a Klansman. Trump supporters are white supremacists (and, NO, you don't have to be white to BE one).
ProfessorPlum · 70-79, M
The idea of Trump running for president is ALMOST as ridiculous as the current "Resident" pretending to BE president.
Picklebobble · 56-60, M
Many thought George W Bush was worth voting for!!!
