They really do. People who guilt their own kids for succeeding at anything suck.

@TwiddlerofThumbs Its like you'd think that they would be happy and even prideful to have a happy successful child. I know I'd be filled with joy knowing my son/daughter made the best out of their lives.

@HermannFegelein My sister in law, her parents are this way. She has a very successful older brother whom they have pitted themselves against. They cant be in teh same room together. His parents are just assholes to him and that is why. They cannot get over that he lives a good life and is fortunate enough to have a lot more money than they do.

What if it's something bad?
HermannFegelein · 26-30, M
@Prettybrat what do you mean?
TwiddlerofThumbs · F
@Prettybrat My son in laws parents do this side of it too. The "Oh I had it much worse" nonsense. Unfortunately they don't seek out to go do something more miserable to really one up them.
HermannFegelein · 26-30, M
@TwiddlerofThumbs no I mean like in terms of wealth, opportunities, or happiness in general. Almost like they can't stand to see their children doing better than they did in life.
