I wish my mother wasn't so stubborn..

Ugh... my mom just invited us over for Sunday dinner. She's making a pork loin. Somehow, she got it into her head that pork loin has to cook for 2 hours, no matter what. I've tried to show her she should cook it to an interior temperature. Her pork loin is always WAY overcooked and like chewing on leather.

Ma’am, I’m from the Center for a Better Appreciation of Leather. We protest your unfortunate association of your mother’s pork tenderloin with our product. We ask that you please refrain in the future. Perhaps you could substitute rubber tires instead. Leather Rules!!

"Thanks mom! I'd love to come but this time let me do something nice for you! I'll roast the loin, you do the sides." 😉
Degbeme · 70-79, M
My mother would do that to any roast. :(

@Degbeme Her roast beef isn't much better either. About the only thing she doesn't ruin is meatloaf! lol

@lilcountrygrl That`s a bonus. lol

Be grateful you have a mother to complain about
lilcountrygrl · 36-40, F
@juiceyangel333 :) She's still a great mom!

Sounds like you'll need an after dinner meal.

Make one, one day and invite her over!! She’ll notice the difference and hopefully you can go from there. My mom only cooks on major holidays. We’re never invited over for dinner.

@Winenot Oh, I've done that plenty of times. She'll say "isn't this a little underdone?" In the meantime, my dad's wolfing down third and fourth helpings! lol....

@lilcountrygrl Oh no! “Old dog” no new tricks, I guess. Sorry. Eat before you over. 😁

Old habits die hard. Buy her a digital thermometer with a cooking guide and explain that the rate of disease in pork is low.
Kind of like jerky?
@lilcountrygrl oh my gosh! Well I was raised by my parents,old fashioned in the country, food was perfect. Not to be mean but you made me laugh hard. Sorry ..
lilcountrygrl · 36-40, F
@Itsmrsockmonkey Well, apparently living in the country doesn't guarantee you know how to cook.
@lilcountrygrl true, but I remember relatives coming to our house from other states that would drop by just for moms homemade biscuits

Print out directions and give them to her!
