I'd Rather Have the Truth, No Matter How Hard

Life is the ability to perceive pain or pleasure through our senses, as the consequence of an action two people independent of us took. Although we had no choice in our existence, looks, body, mind, instincts, the world, and all the world contains... we are forced to adapt through reward and punishment towards survival. We are molded towards becoming pleasing, productive, and harmless to those around us. Should we refuse to be found convenient to others according to their made-up standards: we are negatively labeled, sent to be fixed, kicked out, locked up, or worse. In continuing to survive we pursue pleasure to distract from the pain of conditional acceptance and circumstances outside of our control. We use religion/relationship with a higher power, drugs, alcohol, different forms of distraction, sports, art, hobbies, traveling, etc to numb our minds from the fear of the unknown. Those whose desires we fulfill love to be around us, those we constantly contradict prefer to be away from us. That is life.

I can most easily relate this to my marriage, when you may very well go through this all over again as a couple. As a confidant of mine at the time said...

They either come along, or they dont!

Ironically, he only “came along” for a little while - and then he didn’t. 🤭🤭🤭

Mmmmm. Quite bleak.....while I agree with most of what you say, the assumption that "life is the ability to perceive pain or pleasure through our senses" maybe partially true but it brings into question what is pain and pleasure.....even the modes of either of those feelings we can be manipulated to feel (which I think is what you're saying after, but that's only my interpretation of your very erudite words). Also, I don't think I agree with the last sentence......that's instinctive from my behalf with no formulated idea as to why. Apologies, I am rambling 👎

I like your way of thinking....
The "truth" is always a question.
