Looking forward to retirement? I'm finding it less appealing than I thought.

Seeing as there will probably be no way for me to live I'm not looking forward to it.

@canusernamebemyusername do you like your job?
CestManan · 46-50, F
@canusernamebemyusername Yeah but you are still young enough you have time to build a solid nest egg.
I know millenials are tired of hearing this shit but don't wait til you are my age THEN start to think about the future.
@SW-User At the moment? No. But I was deemed non-essential. So... Lol But I liked it while I had it. I live in a village and there isn't a lot to do. And I have to have certain jobs for... health reasons. So it narrows it down a lot to being only able to work certain places.

As long as you stay active with some type of exercise , then it is great, I love it .....it did take awhile to get used to it but now I enjoy being able to do what I want every day

@Platinum That's great. I need more motivation. I've become really pathetic.

Well since I retired early I can do a lot of things. Since the pandemic however I'm finding it harder to occupy my time. So perhaps that's why I find it less appealing right now.

I can relate .... after retirement, I got bored and took a job for several years

Now, fully retired ... the trick is to find interests and activities to keep your mind busy and engaged.

Due to finances? Because otherwise how can you dislike it?
Its just life with no soul sucking job. You can make of it whatever you want.
Every member of my family that has ever retired told me like its the best thing that ever happened to them. The world is your oyster.

I'm looking forward to it, yes, but I'm sure it will be less than I would like.

I haven't even begun a career or anything yet. 😅 Next year is the year though! Gonna spend the rest of this year working on my physical and mental health so that I can actually focus hahaha.

@thepreposterouspanda Some people go their entire life not knowing what they want to be when they grow up. I haven't figured it out either.

Even people who seem to have it all together are mostly winging it.

@CestManan I wasn't on any good path in my early 20s and then I became chronically ill/disabled, so the past ten years have been spent getting a handle on that. I'm finally getting to the point where I know what I want to do though. :) Just a matter of being able to physically do it haha.
