Pulled Pork

The pork in this recipe cooks indoors, in a crock pot, in a BBQ sauce flavored marinade.

In a large crock pot, mix together:

3 cups apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup molasses
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup garlic powder
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1/3 cup liquid smoke
1 heaping tsp sea salt

Trim a 3 lb pork butt so that almost all the exterior fat is reduced.

Place the pork butt in the crock pot and turn on high. After one hour, reduce heat to low, and cook for approximately 8 hours, turning the pork once after 3 hours.

When done, the pork butt will have a blackened exterior from the molasses. Pull the pork apart using two forks, discarding fat.

Use your favorite BBQ sauce, and you may freeze the pulled pork for up to three months in ziploc bags.

@SW-User I was browsing groups the other day, and there is actually a page now that shows the smaller groups like this one, and ALL the groups that are contained inside broader categories.

I have company coming in 2wks... I am going to try this. Don't need to be in kitchen all day so..this is perfect!
Thanks again. I love pulled pork!

@ShadowWorker Allow yourself plenty of time to pull the pork. I found that discarding the fat took a bit of time.

I'm going to try this it sounds mouth watering

@Celt43 It was pretty darned good! I had a giant block of brown sugar that had petrified in my cabinet, and I just dumped the whole thing in...and it was more than the 2/3 cup I listed in the recipe. I thought that it made the marinade too sweet, so I put in the amount I should have used...and most people don't want a lot of sugar in their sauces and marinades.

@4meAndyou I use a lovely Guinness BBQ sauce I think will suit this lovely
