They don't really innovate in the Star Wars universe do they?

I mean...a ship owned by an outlaw and his walking teddy bear is the fastest ship in the galaxy.

The ship is part of a discontinued line of ships for god sake...why hasn't The New Republic or ANYONE in the Rebel Alliance for that manner even come close to replicating it? xD

Furthermore...there aren't really that many scientific advancements in the universe, it's like they're in a state of technological stagnation, as in Knights of The Old Republic they have similar tech with pretty much the same potential.

Nothing has changed as far as technology goes for at least 50 years, if anything, their technology has regressed (r2d2 doesn't fly anymore)
Icetrey · 41-45, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 makes sense. I can accept that reasoning. and since they weren't there when the rebels put him back together, they didn't add them.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@Icetrey And he didn't have them in episodes 1 & 2...because R2 probably wasn't assigned to him.
Icetrey · 41-45, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 actually he did have them in 2. and they met in 1.

after market modifications and a couple of plot twists and you're good to go.

Technology in the Star Wars galaxy clearly plateaued millennia before the Republic collapsed into the Empire, and plateaued at a level that wasn't really all that advanced. It's as if they acquired the hyperdrive and said, "Well, that's it, folks! No more technological advances needed!"
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@DunningKruger That's why I pointed out KoTOR.

It's technologically identical to that of the Clone Wars era, only stylistic differences are apparent.

Saturn V, the Space Shuttle etc. Oftentimes people do something just to show they can. The general rule is "we don't actually NEED anything better". In fact, if you take the mythology at face value, it would make sense not to innovate when some force-using schmuck can always show up to throw spanner in the works.

Of course, there's multiple reasons that could be explained in-universe, in particular possibly needing force-users to build them, as they were understandably in short supply. I don't know if they've actually given any reasonable reason for that.

Of course, the Death Star models were constantly innovating and improving, despite being against all known physics and economics. And look where THAT got them :p
star wars is still the best

Then again we DO have to consider WHAT lightsabers we're talking about.

Old canon or new canon.
@Fangirlsarah1996 Like sense of smell? 👃
Hmmmm!
So the Jedi find them by smelling out piles of bullshit🐂💩 ...

🤔THAT makes good sense!
@Fangirlsarah1996 Light Canons?

Maybe they have a dumbed-down school system and science is becoming illegal

They don't even have email.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@CheshireCatalyst They use fucking tapes to store information.
CheshireCatalyst · 36-40, M
@Fangirlsarah1996 they have sentient robots that can't even walk properly.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@CheshireCatalyst Still better than the robots we have now.

We can't even get them to walk on stairs.
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
All the good inventions got taken? But yeah if it were our universe they’d be releasing new models of TIE interceptors every year with “revolutionary” new features.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@KingofPizza2 To be fair...actually no the "The Empire built everything cheap" doesn't even apply to the Interceptor...they spent a fair bit on building them.

But yh you'd expect things to get MORE efficient at least. Holographic communication hasn't really improved in oh I don't know the over 1000 fucking years since it was invented xD
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
Well if you think about it if you had a few thousand men. How are you going to put them in a ship like falken. If you had a ship big enough for all your men it will be a bit slow. But it would have a lot of fighting power
They had holograms, instantaneous communications, laser weapons, particle beams, and robots galore
but didn't even have replicators, transporters, tricorders, or blenders!

They build a bigger death star! :o
@Classified Robot Slaves did that!
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@KneAuxBody Very progressive, The Empire just used Wookies xD
