I Am Fascinated By Human Behaviour

I have come to realize that those who are closest to you are the same people who misunderstand you as a person. I find this a little amusing and somewhat fascinating, as I still feel it would make better sense if a stranger would question your intentions or misinterpret your words as he does not know you well enough.

I think this happens because the people who are closest to us, the people who know us, view us in terms of the role we play in their lives. They have an image of us in their heads that plugs into their reality. This image isn't necessarily the way we view ourselves — it may not resemble we we think we are at all. This discrepancy inevitably leads to miscommunication and misunderstanding.

@DunningKruger Thank you for responding, I must say you have put a new spin on my thoughts. I just hate being misunderstood, all my life I have been clearing up misunderstandings.

The old cliché, "You always hurt the one you love." seems to come from the knowledge that you gain about each others personality and their "hot buttons". Thus the misunderstanding is more of a retaliation for something you might have done or said that makes the other uncomfortable or goes against their thoughts.

I feel this all the time towards many close. Misguided words and emotions that are a 180 how I truly feel. Then after exstensive explanation to only have their self assumptions as the outcome. At times strangers at least attempt to listen before assuming.

@LienOnYourDreams sadly even after trying our hardest to reassure them that their assumptions are so far fetched from the truth only brings about more misunderstandings.

@WildHeart Truth! So, we must just continue to be.

a stranger is no threat WILDHEART,and a stranger is just a friend you have not met yet .........hi english
WildHeart · 41-45, F
@english I don't see any stranger as a threat unless given reason to believe otherwise, all I am saying is I can totally understand it if someone I didn't know personally would get angry and misinterpret my words. I dont expect this from people who are close to my heart, those who know me.

this i understood ,but do we really show our true selves to those we love , or try to protect them from ourselves ?

@english What you see is what you get with me. I am not afraid to show my flaws and all, I can easily let people go if they choose to leave
